Elise sat on her bed, drawing, doodling, coloring. She was drawing a picture for art class. Trying to redraw pictures from magazines of eyes and mouths and the such.

Her mother, Liza, was downstairs cooking dinner, and the intoxicating smell of Liza's homemade chili was filling the house.

Elise's stomach rumbled as she doodled.

"Elise?! Why don't you come down and set the table before David gets home."

"Coming!" She yelled, finished a small section, and started out of her room.

But when she stopped at the top of the stairs, a hand grabbed her. She let out a small screech and turned around.

Her mother looked qt her with wide, crazy eyes.

"Don't go down there. I heard it too."
