Kath's POV
Nandito kami sa kwarto ni Pamu. Denver was sleeping on her bed. This is the first time na nakapasok ako sa kwarto niya. Palagi kasi kami sa garden o di kaya sa kusina at sala.
I saw a picture of her with Denver. I think it was their Graduation Ball during highschool. Nakasuot ng long purple gown si Pamu at naka gray suit naman si Denver. They looked very happy and in love.
"Gusto mo ba ng kwentuhan? Tara sa garden." Aya ni Pamu. Lumabas kami ng kwarto niya at nagpunta sa garden nila. I think this is my favorite spot dito sa bahay nila. Soothing ang ambiance at fresh ang hangin. Ang ganda din tignan ng mga colorful flowers at the left side of the garden.
"Pamu, ilang years na kayo ni Denver?" Out of the blue kong tanong. Nakita ko naman siyang ngumiti.
"Three years. Since third year high school pa kami. He was my partner in grad ball. Which is hindi dapat. Pero hindi ako sinipot ng partner ko at siya rin. So we ended up partnering each other. Hindi naman problema because we're already together during that time. We also graduated together. But in college, I chose to enroll in that university and he enrolled in our school. Pero kita mo naman, nagkasama pa rin kami when I decided to transfer." She was smiling the whole time she shares her story with Denver. And then she looked at me.
"Ikaw, may gusto ka bang e-share?" She asked and I was taken aback. Shall I tell her?
"You know what Pam's, I am hesitant to share this to you. But I think I can trust you naman, right?"
"Of course. I won't make a fuss in whatever you're going to tell me." She said. I took a deep breath and started talking.
"I have this crush since high school. Sobrang crush ko siya. We were fourth year that time at magkaklase kami. Kaya lang, I think he hated me that time kasi palaging nasa list ko ang name niya. Palagi kasing nagcucutting classes. Palagi siyang napapagalitan ng teacher namin kasi suki sa listahan eh at ako naman ang taga lista. I kept my secret until now. Nung nagcollege kasi ako, I also enrolled in other university too. Kaya lang, hindi kinaya ng kaartehan ko ang lugar na yun, so I ended transferring to our school. And there, I met him, again. I thought wala na, I thought my heart forgot him. Pero hindi pa pala. The beatings are still the same whenever his near, whenever I see him. And the ironic part of it is, akala ko may girlfriend siya. But he looks and smiles at me differently. The gestures are pure different. Kaya lang hindi ko ipinilit sa sarili ko because of the thought na may girlfriend siya. Not until yesterday, he was the one I am expecting to fetch from the airport. But, I was wrong." Pamu covered her mouth with her hands. Parang hindi siya makapaniwala.
"Is it Daniel?" She asked. And I just nodded slowly.
"Akala mo si Daniel ang boyfriend ko?" Gulat na tanong niya at tumango ulit ako.
"That's why, nung narinig ko siya na tinawag kang 'hon' nung time na nasa canteen tayo, ay lumabas ako agad. Nung sa labas ng gym at nung sinundo ka nila sa amin at tinawag kang prinsesa, all those times akala ko, kayo." She just smiled. Na parang hindi talaga makapaniwala.
"You thought it so wrong, Kath." She said.
"Oo nga, sobrang mali." I said.
"Alam mo kasi yang si Daniel, close yan kay Denver. Magkasama sila sa varsity and at the same time, mag kaklase rin. Yang barkada nila, tawag saakin minsan ay hon, gumagaya kasi sila kay Denver eh, minsan naman prinsesa. Kasi kung minsan na gusto nilang gumala, sumasama ako. At ako lang ang babae sa kanila kaya prinsesa daw nila ako." Mahabang paliwanag niya. Nagtawanan na lamang kami sa mga nalaman namin sa isat-isa.
Kaya pala. Wala naman palang kwenta ang pagseselos at pag iisip ko about sa kanila. Haaaaay Kathryn, pambihira ka talaga.
"Oh, ano? Masaya ka na?" Bulong ng other self ko. Napangiti na lang ako. Isang overwhelming smile na umabot hanggang sa puso ko.
