"ISNT THAT LIKE YOUR FIFTH COFFEE TODAY?"
"What?" William laughs, drawing his eyebrows together and taking another sip out of his portable mug. "I'm nervous."
"You have nothing to be nervous about." A smile tugs at the corners of my lips.
William shakes his head in disagreement. He's been whining all day about this, saying that meeting my dad is going to be nerve wracking. Apparently coffee is a top notch stress reliever for William.
I just hope he doesn't get too hyper and say something stupid, knowing his playful personality does have its downsides sometimes. I really want my dad to like him.
It was William's idea to go visit my dad in London. It's only a few hours drive, and I wasn't opposed to him meeting my dad in anyway. I haven't told my dad that I'm dating William Nylander, only that I have a boyfriend and that we'll be coming to visit.
William had practice early this morning and we left an hour after he was done.
I've been driving this entire time while William has been counting the reasons that my dad won't like him. I'm only introducing him to my dad, since my mom lives in Alberta. Even though I dislike it, my parents literally never communicate, completely cutting off any contact from each other whatsoever.
"Does he have anything against Swedish people? I'm Swedish." William is now just talking to himself at a fast pace, ranting so quickly that I have to listen closely to catch what he's saying. "If he doesn't like Swedish people we can just tell him that I was born in Calgary, right? And if that doesn't work either I guess I'm screwed." He mumbles.
"William." I say.
"—What if I say something wrong? Do you think he'll get mad? Fuck. I can just be quiet and smile, yeah, that's it, I'll do that, be quiet and smile."
"William!" He stops, snapping his mouth shut and turning his head to face me.
"Yes?" He gulps.
I don't want to be mean, but it's hilarious to see a grown man freaking out about something like this. And cute too. But I'm not going to boost his ego anymore than I already have.
"He'll like you I promise." I place my hand over his, flashing him a warm smile.
