Flutter: Neuf (1/2)

Start from the beginning

"Yes?" He questioned, raising a brow at Nora.

"I'm going to my room. I'm not feeling well." She said, unabashedly.

Quinton looked at her, before nodding his head. Nora gave a quick farewell before stalking out of the game room. She hurried up to her room and once there she slammed her door shut.

o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o

Nora shouted, kicking over the chair of vanity table.

Nora was furious. Quinton made it clear that he intended to mate with her, but he was going to be in for a surprise. There was no way that she was going to let him touch her with the same hands that would be all over Charlene. The very thought of it made Nora incensed.

"Get a grip, Nora." She said out loud to herself, trying to reason away her unwanted jealously. It didn't help however, and Nora soon found herself reaching for the nearest object and chucking it. That left her with a broken hand mirror. Luckily, it did help release her anger somewhat. She couldn't actually lift her hands to the two sources of her anger - Quinton and Charlene. Nora didn't know who she was more angry at actually. Should it be Quinton who disrespected her, or Charlene with her blond locks, straight nose, and ample bosom. Nora touched her own button nose and looked down at her chest. Compared to Charlene, Nora felt inadequate. Charlene was the type of woman Quinton was attracted to.

"And who cares if it is! I don't care if he's attracted to me!" Nora spoke out loud again, trying to convince herself.

o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o

The festivities had ended quite a few hours ago and most of the residence of Gillan's were in dream land - all but Quinton. Quinton stood in nothing but his pants, staring out the window at the empty fields that made up his estate. He couldn't quite get to sleep, far too many thoughts were swirling around in his head. To Quinton's displeasure,  many of his thoughts had to do with Nora. And they weren't even bad thoughts either! No, all he could think about was how striking Nora looked that evening. When she'd entered the game room, his heart quickened and the blood rushed throughout the body. She'd stood in front of the door, the light from the hallway outlining her petite body, making her literally radiant. Worse of all, Quinton knew that he wasn't the only one who noticed. When Blaine remarked on Nora's appearance, some primal side wanted to scoop her up and shut her up in his room away from anyone's eyes. It was bad enough that Blaine and Nora were buddy buddy with each other. Quinton knew that he couldn't deprive Nora of socialization, but why did it have to be Blaine, who was obviously not blind to her looks.

Quinton did his best to distance himself. His wolfen side was stirred. He wouldn't be able to hold his wolfish tendencies at bay if she looked like this all the time. Quinton had already slipped up once before, having kissed Nora.

Quinton made his hands into fists, upset with it all. He needed to get a grip. He was a beta and he would not allow a little girl to make him lose his wits.

"Quinny? What are you doing up?" Charlene said sleepily from the bed.

"Nothing. Go back to sleep." He answered impassively.

"Obviously something's the matter." She sat up, letting the covers fall and not bothering to be modest. "You've been acting strangely all night. You've never been so distracted with me."

Quinton rolled his eyes. He had used Charlene the way he intended earlier hat evening . The full moon was getting closer and his well, his emotions as of late were rising. He had been sexually frustrated and he needed some way to release his pent-up energy. It didn't help that Nora was living among him, her scent enticing him. Charlene did help take the edge off, but he certainly didn't care much for her this time around.

"I can't say that I performed my best this evening." He admitted, turning around, easily making her out in the dark.

"No... but all's forgiven." She made her way off the bed and slunk towards Quinton. "There's always round two, though. You could make it up to me." She said with a Cheshire grin.

"I don't think so, Charlene. Actually, after tonight I don't think I'll be requiring you anymore."

Charlene's face instantly became solemn.

"Requiring me? Quinny, what are you trying to say?"

"I'm saying that I enjoyed our time together, but it's best that both of us move on."

"M-move on?" She stuttered, disbelievingly. "Because of one night. This was just a little fluke. I can redeem myself..." She placed her palm on Quinton's chest and began to slowly lower it. Quinton grasped her wrist and flung it away.

"That won't be necessary, Charlene. It's nothing to do with you. Our relationship has simply run its course. You knew this wasn't a permanent situation from the beginning."

"Yes, but look how long it's lasted!" She flung up her arms in the air. "I know what this is. It's because of that little girl isn't it. Your precious mate." She said, malevolently.

"Watch yourself." Quinton warned.

"No! That prepubescent child ends up being your mate and then suddenly we're strangers. You think she's going to be able to satisfy you like I can. You're a bit too old to play babysitter don't you think?"

Quinton laughed humorously.

"What's so funny?" Charlene asked.

"It's ironic how such a beautiful woman can be so ugly." He said icily. "Have some dignity Charlene."

"How dare -" Charlene was cut off by a scream that permeated the air, getting both her and Quinton's attention.

"What the hell?" He stated, pushing past Charlene and wrenching the door open.
