Chapter 18: New Year new me?

"5..4...3...2...1!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!" Everyone throughout the restaurant screams as they watch the clock run down, their either sharing a kiss with their loved one or sipping on their drink minding their business, i on the other hand wish I was at home in my bed asleep but somehow I got the night shift tonight, I walk to the back and take my apron off "I'm heading home" I yell in the back to my boss "happy new year! Good night!" He yells back over the loud voices and cheering
I walk down the street to my car and hop in "let's go home sally" I say as I start her up and drive off

Today is January 10th 2018, I'm laying in my bed, music playing in the background as I finish up the last of my homework and start to get ready for Elijah and I's date tonight, I close my book and walk to my stereo and turn my music up. I then walk to my closet and grab a white long sleeve Vneck shirt, some medium wash jeans and my tan slip on vans, I lay that out on my bed and go hop in the shower.
Once I'm out I start on my hair

Once I'm done with hair I start on my makeup

And once I'm finished with that I go and sit on my bed, I check my phone and see I still have an hour and a half before he comes to pick me up so I lay on my bed and grab the current book I'm reading off my night stand (that book just so happens to be SICK by Tom Leveen/ pictured at the top)
I read a few chapters and I hear my phone go off

Elijah: I'll be there in 20 minuets

Me: ok, be carful

I reply back and put on my outfit. Once I'm done putting on my outfit I grab my bag and walk down the stairs. as I walk to the front door i see Taz and Chase walking in. I smile at them as I move past and walk out the door to Elijah's car "hey" he says as he kisses me on the cheek "hey" I say back as I put on my seatbelt (ALWAYS WEAR A SEATBELT KIDS)
"What's up with them?" He questions as he pulls away from the curb "I have no idea, I know right after Christmas Taz started acting funny..." "and we haven't had family dinner night in like 2 weeks I think" he nods his head "yeah Chase hasn't been talking to me, in fact he avoids me at all costs" he states, one hand on the week the other handing my hand "yeah I don't know, somethings going on with Gage and Taz and I think it has something to do with him spending the night, she also asked to borrow my laptop and I found a browser open for an apartment complex downtown in the college area" I say "you think she's gonna move out?" He questions and I shake my head "honestly I hope not, maybe I should ask them to go on a double date with us?" I suggest "yeah that's if they'll agree" he says looking at me as we stop at a red light "why would they not?" I question confused by his response "we have other mutual friends and I found out through one of them that they don't "approve" of our relationship" he lets go of my hand to make air quotes "wow, would've been nice for her to tell me that" I state "who cares? If you wanna ask them ask them? If you
Don't then don't" he says shrugging his shoulders as he grabs my hand once again "I just wish people would tell me what's really on their mind" I say looking out the window, it's silent for a few minutes and he squeezes my hand "hey, everything's gonna be alright" he says and I nod "I just feel like everything's changing, I feel like my life playing out in front of me and I'm just trying to grasp something but I can't" I say looking down to my lap "you've got everything under control, your doing amazing and you'll be amazing at what you do" he says kissing my hand, I turn to him and smile "thank you" he smiles back and nods his head

We finally made it to the restaurant and ate, now we're walking through home goods looking at decorations for his new apartment that he just so happened to finally tell me about "I want to get curtains to put over the  glass doors that separate my room from the rest of my apartment" he says looking at cream curtains, I walk around the bin and pick up a set of navy blue curtains and throw them to him "grab a few more like this" he says looking at towels, grabbing black ones with white trim and putting them in the buggy, he gets a comforter set, a few pillows and some paintings and we check out.

He dropped me off and headed home, I told him I'd message him and later him and let him know what happened after I talked to Taz. I walk into my room and set down my stuff. I put on a long T shirt and some shorts and walk across the hall to Taz's room "hey" I say as I knocked on the half open door "hey" she says as I push it and walk in "haven't talked in awhile" I say sitting in the floor. She stands up from her desk and sits down across from me "yeah I know, shits been pretty hectic with me" she says rubbing her stomach "are you feeling ok?" I ask and she nods "yeah I'm fine, but I was going to talk to you about something" she says "can I go first?" I question and she nods "ok so I wanted to see if you and Chase would go on a double date with Elijah and I" I ask and she nods "ok so how about next Saturday" I ask and she nods once again "it's funny you bring him up" she says looking at me "what?" I ask "well I've seen him around campus...." I nod signaling for her to continue "with his ex..." she says "I mean it's probably nothing but I just thought you should know" she says looking down "ok.. thanks, just let me know when you and Chase are available" I say standing up and walking to my room.

I lay down looking up, watching the stars dance across my ceiling as the projector shoots them out. He wouldn't cheat on me, he's probably only hanging out with her to be nice, there's so many things racing through my mind right now that it's too hard to fall asleep, so I roll on my side and grab my phone

Me: We'er going to that diner in the city with Taz and Chase next Saturday

Elijah: ok, are you ok?

Me: yeah why wouldn't I be?

Elijah: you seem distracted and distant lately...

Me: everything's fine

~Should I tell him I know he's been hanging out with his ex?~

Elijah: ok, I'm here if you wanna talk..

Me: thanks, goodnight, sleep tight<3

Saturday rolls around faster then I thought it would and I'm more than anxious to say the least, I have yet to tell him what Taz told me and I'm worried that if I do bring it up where it'll go

I throw on a T shirt dress with tights underneath, a pair of white converse and my knee length jean jacket.

Elijah and I made it to the diner early and I can tell right off the bat he's nervous too "should I ask them about what our friends told me?" He asks looking at me I shrug "do you think they'll be honest with us?" I question back "I guess your right" he says grabbing my hand "let's say a little prayer that everything goes good" I nod as he goes to speak, they walk in "never mind" he says sighing "hey" Chase says "hey" we both say back. you can feel the awkward tension building. "So who's hungry?" The waitress asks as she walks up to our table scaring all of us.

Our food just arrived to the table and we all start eating "yeah his class is honestly shit" the boys discussing a mutual teacher they have, I can see Taz bring her arm into Chases side "oh right" he says clearing his throat "so Taz and I are moving into an apartment on campus" chase says looking to me to see my reaction "congratulations" I say smiling "and.... I'm pregnant" Taz blurts out, everyone at the table going silent "I know it's a lot to take on, but I just want you to know I'm not abandoning you, I'll still be here for you whenever you need me" she says reaching across the table to grab my hands, my mind is spinning and the only thing I muster up "congratulations"
