“Honey , if you’re being mistreated over there then I’ll do something but you have to tell me,” your mother said with concern laced in her words

“Everything’s fine,” you smiled over at her trying to convince her that you were perfectly fine. You didn’t want to worry her more than she already was. Work had been stressing her out lately and you felt like that was enough for her to deal with right now

You felt the cool metal of her necklace against your chest which reminded you that she was there for you after school had ended

It’s what got you through. You didn’t know how she even figured out the way you were being treated at school but you weren’t going to concern yourself with that now. If you didn’t leave now then she would surely pick something out of you

“Well, have a good day then,” she sighed, obviously not believing you completely. You nodded as she kissed the top of your head before you left and made your way to your school

The early morning air made you shiver and you wished you had taken a jacket. It was fall and you kicked the leaves that layed on the ground. The sun was barely out but it kind of made it look like the early time in the night and you loved it

You finally got to your schools campus and kept to yourself. You knew they didn’t like you all that much so you didn’t push it. You were hoping that today they would leave you alone

You walked in through the front door and your ears met the loud rumble of student’s voices. You bobbed and weaved in between people and made your way towards a less crowded spot

You decided that your locker was an alright spot so you made your way there

The hallway was mostly empty except for a few kids who were too worried about homework and projects that they didn’t even notice you

You put in the combination on your lock and popped your locker open. You stepped back as a letter fell out of your locker. You could already guess what it said inside so you just picked it up and crumpled it in your palm and got what you needed to get out of your locker

Your next destination was the library. You took off your jacket on the way there and stuffed it into your bag. You swung the door to the quiet library open and walked towards an empty table

You slid your backpack off of your shoulders and relaxed in the chair. You took your book for class out and decided to catch up on your reading. You sat quietly but not for very long

You heard the seats around you being pulled out and a group of giggling teens sit beside you. They were your class mates and they were also the ones always leaving you horrible notes. You kept your eyes on the page of your book as one of them spoke

“Did you read it? If you did then I’ll refresh your memory,” one of the girls began to list all the things they found flawed about you. “Plus, your hair looks worse than the hair I find in my drain,” she laughed

You didn’t understand what was so funny about what they said but you didn’t have it in you to respond especially not in a mean manor like what they did “Are you listening?”

“Looks like she’s too focused,” another girl sighed as she grabbed your book and tossed it into the trash. You followed it with your eyes and gulped down your tears

“I need that,” you said plainly. You slumped in your chair, still refusing to look at them. There were only girls around you today but other days there have been boys

“So, how was your weekend? Did you see what I posted on Instagram?” she asked, looking too amused for her own good

“No,” you finally replied to her.

“Well you should go look. It’s a beauty,” she said sarcastically. She looked you up and down, making you even more uncomfortable than you already were

“You’re wearing something cute for once,” another girl snorted

“True,” the original girl nodded. “This is especially pretty,” she said, yanking the scarf off of your neck

“If you really like it then I guess you can have it,” you bit your lip, not wanting to make things worse than they already were

“Then I can have this!” the second girl exclaimed, yanking your necklace off, that had been hidden by your scarf. “You shouldn’t hide things like this. It’s gorgeous. You don’t deserve something like this.”

“No! That’s my moms,” you protested. You reached to get it but the girl was tall and kept it out of your reach

She pushed you back once you stood up and caused you to hit the chair you had been sitting on and making it fall. A loud noise echoed throughout the library but you didn’t see anyone noticing what was going on. Typical

“We could even sell it and get some cash,” the third girl suggested making you tear up

You loved that necklace since you had been little and didn’t know how you would deal with this daily torture without it

“I’ll take that,” you heard a different, male voice say

You looked up and expected it to be another person to tease you and bring you down but it the look on the girls faces made you think otherwise

He snatched your necklace from one of the girl’s hands and looked at me. He had kind eyes which you never thought was possible to see around here. “Here you go,” he smiled. “Oh! And this,” he added as he yanked your scarf back from the girl still sitting in the seat at the table

“Who the hell are you?” one girl scoffed giving him an icy stare

“New student. It’s my first day. Not a very good school by the looks of it,” he replied to her, returning her icy stare

“Now, if you will excuse us, my new friend and I have class in a few minutes.” He wrapped his arm around your shoulder and carried you all the way out of the library and back to the hallway you had been in before

You were quiet and felt as if you were dreaming. No one had ever stood up for you but this stranger seemed to have the kindest heart out of everyone here

“Are you ok?” he asked, removing his arm from around you

“Uh… I guess I am now,” you nodded

“I’m Kenta by the way,” he grinned. “I’d love it if you showed me around this place sometime.”

“Really?” you asked, still in disbelief

“Yeah,” he nodded.

“I’m (Y/N),” you finally introduced yourself properly

“What’s your first class,” Kenta asked

"Science,” you answered him

“Me too! Be my guide!” he cheered. You felt warm from his smile and felt as if you had never been lonely in this place full of mean people

“Ok,” you smiled back at him and was glad that you could finally stop lying to your mother about being fine
