Chapter 1

College is way different from high school. If high school is all about fun, then college is about time to be serious. Heck, we're talking about your career now! We're about seeing your future so you must work hard. Although they say, don't pressure yourself too much. Enjoy. Just enjoy it. My mentor once said, focus but enjoy. If there's a beautiful painting, enjoy watching it not only focus decoding what's behind the artistic work.

I can say it because I'm experiencing it. I'm in college, taking up Bachelor of Fine Arts major in Creative Writing. And yes, college is a torture yet it is where your talent is being honed and prepare you for your bright future. And somehow, I enjoyed my two years here in Emory. Currently, I'm a third year college student.

A ring of my phone what makes me get up from my sleep. It's a cold day and it's hard to wake up in this weather condition.

"Where are you? It's already 7 and I'm in the library waiting for you."

My eyes opened widely in shock and turn my head to my nightstand and it's 7:07, the eff!

"Oh, sht. Sorry, I slept overtime. I'll be there in thirty," and I ended the call.

So I dash to my bathroom and take a quick shower and get dressed.

The school is a walking distance but I'm in a hurry so I have to ride a trike.

I'm staying in a small apartment as how I wished it. Malayo kasi ang paaralan ko sa bahay namin so I'm paying for the rent of the apartment.

Mamayang 10 pa naman ang klase namin but Katlyn, my friend said that we have to study for our English class in literature and criticism.

"What happened to your glasses?" Katlyn asked as I settled in front of her.

Kinuha ko naman iyon mula sa pagkakasabit at nakitang may crack na ang salamin ko.

I sighed. Ang mahal ng salamin at di kakasya ang allowance ko kung bibili ako ngayon. Pag-iipunan ko pa.

"I accidentally hit someone on my way here."

"Tss. Nagtanga-tangahan ka na naman. How much is your glasses?"

"Why? Are you planning on buying me a new one?" I retorted.

"I'm just asking but I can lend you Php 500. Kulang na rin allowance ko, e."

"Thank you pero pag-iipunan ko nalang. Crack lang naman, e. Kaya pa ng salamin ko."

She hissed at my refusal.

"Ilan ulit grado mo, Aria?"

"250," I answered while my eyes are on the book.

Pareho kaming busy sa pagbabasa at pagno-note. May times na magtatanong siya or ako sa mga bagay na di namin maintindihan or mga nalimutan.

Katlyn de la Rosa is from a wealthy family but she isn't the typical spoiled brat when you heard "rich kid". Her parents taught her how to spend money properly. Although, from her looks, you can easily say that she's rich pero hindi siya mapili sa mga taong kinaka-usap. She's studious. We're both bookworm kaya siguro magka-sundo kami.
