I creep down the hallway toward Alanna’s room, making sure to step over the one part of the floor that squeaks the door is slightly open so I take a peak in. “Dear God, thank you for the fun day with mommy and bringing daddy home, also crazy Uncle Johnny!” Alanna squeals her eyes shut tight, next to Randy on their knees hands folded together. “Bless daddy, an everyone I love but especially mommy…she seems to be sad a bunch lately, but you can make it all better I know, Amen!” My heart fell, I thought I had been hiding my loneliness quite well; Randy looks as though in a trance after hearing that just staring to the distance. “Daddy?” Lanna chimes in,

“Alright time for bed, Princess.” He smiles, shaking his head clear of his thoughts. He opens her blankets and she crawls into it without any objections. “Sweet dreams, lovely…” he says in a hush voice before kissing her forehead and getting up to leave.

“No, you have to sing.” She pouts folding her arms across her chest sticking her bottom lip out.

“Fine,” he chuckles as he sits on the edge of the bed soothing her hair gently, “Some day, when I'm awfully low,

When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight.

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely, never, ever change.

Keep that breathless charm.” Her eyes finally give up and start to close for the night but not before letting out one last plea

            “Don’t leave me, daddy…”

Pain appears in his eyes I know it shatters his heart when he disappoints her, “I wouldn’t dream of it… together forever an ever…” he whispers, before kissing her forehead and shutting off the lamp. I quickly head back into our bedroom before he catches me spying on them, “John and I are gonna watch Fast Five before he has to catch his flight, don’t wait up.” He says kissing my forehead then leaving the room.

I sigh knowing I need to open up to someone, I pick up the phone and dial my best friend up. The phone rings three times before she picks up, “Hello?” just hearing her voice eases my heart,

“Cheyenne, I need your help…” my bottom lip quivers as I cross my legs sitting in bed,

“What’s wrong?” she quickly adds, panic in her voice.

“Just…are you and Cena still happy?” I ask, after a few seconds of silence I add. “I mean after all these years together are you…bored? That isn’t the right word but I can’t think of anything else.” I ramble, praying I’m not alone in this right now.

“Um, Sam…I know so much about John, and there are days when we realize we are repeating a story we already told each other but I love him so much I could never be bored. Then again it is John he isn’t really built to be boring!” She laughs, I give a light chuckle it was true Randy was very different from John, it was silly of me to think she would know my pain.

“I just feel like Randy and I are growing apart…I hardly see him and when I do I just feel like he doesn’t like me…” I take a deep breath as I fight the burning tears in the back of my throat,

“Sam that is crazy, Randy loves you!” She raises her voice in a dramatic way,

“I know he loves me, but he doesn’t like me anymore. It used to be we couldn’t spend a second apart when he was actually home but now…I don’t even know. You and John don’t have kids so it isn’t really the same, but sometimes I get jealous of Alanna she gets all of his love and attention…” I trail off getting up to lock the bedroom door, then plopping back down on the bed.

“Wow…Sam if you aren’t happy, then why are you guys still together?” She asks in a whisper,

“Because I love him… he is my everything and I mean absolutely nothing to him these days. On top of that it is expected, we have a kid and he is in the spotlight we can’t even take a break without everyone freaking out and a million girls hitting on him.”

“Look, you and Randy need to sit down and discuss all of this, I’m not supposed to say anything so don’t tell anyone –especially John –that I told you this but…Randy has been talking to John about the same thing. He made me swear not to mention it to you cause of Bro Code or something.” She says quickly trying to force it out, I just stare at the blank tv screen ahead of me “You still there?”

“Yeah…what exactly did he say?” I ask barely audible afraid of what she may say,

“Ask him, I promised John I wouldn’t say and I really can’t but you know I love you and Alanna and I’m always going to be on your side no matter what! If I could I would give you a giant hug right now and wipe away your tears. You deserve to be happy so either work it out with him or move on, there is no other choice…” I let out a sigh knowing she is right.

“Okay, I’ll talk with him when he is in a better mood. I love you Chey, thank you for the talk I needed it.” I say in a plain voice before hanging up, I lie in bed tears sliding down my cheeks before I fall into a deep sleep.
