Chapter 20 -Christmas Special

Start from the beginning

For the performance I wear a simple green dress, topped with silver earrings and beige heels. As for makeup I wear kajal, coral red lipstick and a bit of mascara. Once I have gotten dressed, I approach Siddharth, who is dressed in his grey dress shirt and the black trousers he always wears.

The school hall is small, yet the poly chromatic decorations they have put up truly lights up the place. When Siddharth sees the piles of children racing around with grins on their faces, he looks over to me and says "Is this the hell hole you work at"

"It's not a hell hole. It's a beautiful place with even more beautiful people. It's a very rewarding job" I say earnestly

"Pfft. That's a load of crap. Just look at this place. The flooring is ruined and the wallpaper is tearing. I was expecting you to work in some crappy place like this" He snarls

Siddharth's comments are hurtful, but I can assure I've heard much worse from him. I disregard his comments, and walk up to Armit, who is getting some boys from our class ready for their dance.

"Armit! You're here already. Sorry I'm late" I say grabbing a seat next to him

"No worries Nisha. Lemme get these boys ready and on stage, I'll be back in a sec" He says and takes the boys up onto the stage

"Who was that" Siddharth asks tonelessly

"He's the teacher I'm working alongside, Armit. He's from Mumbai" I say

"I don't like him already. He seems like a cocky Mumbaiker" Siddharth says crossing his arms

If anyone was cocky, it would be Siddharth. Armit was nothing like Siddharth - he was a simple and generous man. But Siddharths mountainous ego would make him say stuff like that.

Just then Armit returns back to his seat.

"You must be Nisha's husband" Armit says gleefully

"Siddharth" Siddharth says shaking his hand relunctantly

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to this year's nativity play" Began Jordan, who was dressed as one of the 3 wise men.

With that the nativity play began. It was rather entertaining, and the dances were much better than the rehearsals.  When the curtains closed Armit cheerfully stood up and cheered the students on. Many parents followed Armit, giving the kids a standing ovation. I put my purse on the chair, and get up and applaud them. Siddharth, who is still seated looks up at me and gives me a pathetic stare.

"So this is the kinda crap you give a standing ovation for" mocks Siddharth once I am seated

Jordan returns onto the stage, and gives a lil thank you speech and soon we are dismissed.

"That was a great play. They did much better than the rehearsals" Armit tells me

"I know right! Thankfully Noone tripped up on stage" I laugh

"Yah"Armit says

"So I'll see you tommorow? " I say

"See you Nisha. It was nice you could make it" Armit says leaning in for a warm hug

In the corner of my eye, I could see Siddharth, who was watching us enviously with his arms crossed

"Bye Nisha" Armit says waving goodbye

"That was a rather long hug there. Don't cross your limits" whispers Siddharth as we walk towards the exit

I could sense envy in Siddharth's eyes. He has been treating me like crap. To make things worse, he kissed that other girl right before my eyes. It's time I gave him a taste of his own medicine

"Armit! Don't forget to call" I yell with a smile

"I won't " laughs Armit and walks out of sight

Thanks to Keerthi, I have gotten my phone back again - which means I can call my family and Armit whenever I want to now

"Don't forget to call" imatates Siddharth in a girly voice

"Whats your problem now? You jealous" I ask boldly

"Jealous? Me? No way! Why would I be jealous of you and your petty little boyfriend" snarls Siddharth

"He's not my boyfriend. Just a friend " I explain

Siddharth dosent reply after that, but something about him made me sense that he was jealous.  I know Siddharth is malicious towards me, but maybe(just maybe), he might not want his wife to be anybody elses.
