Night Three

By the time we got into Charlie's it was already 5:30. People were everywhere, and you could hardly get around. Andy dragged me through the crowd and I was surprised to see that people paid me no attention.

"A frappe for my sister here Charlie!" Andy sang out, putting his money on the counter when we got to it.

Charlie turned around from one of the coffee makers and looked at Andy and me.

"Claire! You came!"

I blushed and looked around.

"Yeah..."

"Keep that money Andrew, I told your sister here that if she came tonight I'd buy her the first one, on the house!"

I smiled at Andrew and he nodded, tucking his money back in his pocket. Suddenly, a girl flung herself at Andy and he laughed, hugging her back. It was only then that I realized it was Summer.

She turned around and gasped when she saw me.

"Claire! You're out! During daylight hours!" She announced.

I looked around to see a few people staring at us.

"Please be a little quieter Summer." I said.

She put her hand over her mouth and giggled.

"Sorry. I'm just surprised. Did you bring a date?"

I stared at her.

"No. See, Andrew here told me it was just going to be him and I tonight."

She frowned and looked at Andrew. He gave her one of those 'what?' looks and I rolled my eyes.

"Well, let's find you one then!" She said ecstatically.

I shook my head no and Charlie chuckled as he started making my frappe. Summer scanned the crowd and Charlie handed me my frappe. I smiled at him and sat at the counter to drink it when Summer started pulling on my arm.

"What about him?" She asked.

I turned to see her pointing at a guy with red hair and blue eyes who was sitting in a corner with a bunch of other guys. All of them wore jerseys for the high school I would be going to if I didn't have to be homeschooled.

I shook my head no and she rushed over to the table he was at. I watched in horror as she said something to him, causing him to look towards me. I quickly spun back around.

Charlie watched me carefully as he cleaned out mugs.

"Hey."

I turned around to see the red head behind me. My heart was jumping in my chest as I blushed a bright red.

"Um. Hi." I greeted awkwardly.

"I'm Bobby." He said.

"I'm Claire." I answered.

He stared at me.

"Claire Sanders? The girl who's homeschooled and never comes outside during the day?" He asked.

I sighed and nodded. See, everyone knows me as a freak.

"Oh. Well hi. Um...I didn't think you were even gonna be here since, ya know..."

I nodded.

"I understand. Since I'm a freak and never come outside during the day." I mumbled.

He stared at me.
