"We thought Nora was an exception! Wolfen born she might be, but Nora's never even transformed! I've never seen a sign that she ever will. Most females her age are already mated. So we assumed that she was born...lacking the ability to be a true wolf."

"So there was no need to educate her about her superiors? The lupine hierarchy? Not only was I not recognized but I was also disobeyed." He said, smacking the desk.

"It is her human side that has reign. She does not feel the pull as we do. Whatever she does is strictly based on human emotion...so please have mercy." Edward pleaded.

"Do not tell me what disciplines I must take!" Quinton said, rising from his seat and stepping towards Nora's father menacingly.

"Leave my father alone!" Nora dashed next to her father and glared at Quinton, the need to protect her family strong. "Now I see that all this has something to do with me. What is it that you want from me?" Nora shouted.

All was silent as the men regarded the normally docile Nora angered. Quinton was the one to answer her.

"Know your place girl." He said through clenched teeth.

"Excuse you sir, but who are you to come here and tell me what to do!"

Edward attempted to sooth Nora but to no avail.

"I am Quinton Reeves!"

"Why do you say that as if it means something?"

Nora that he would bare his teeth.

"I see that your father has failed in his duties to properly instruct all the children of Wicks. I am one of the many betas of the alpha, your leader. That means I surpass you in rank. Now I can understand that you were ignorant of my office, so you are spared. Though, I will not tolerate a lack of deference from here on out."

Nora was momentarily stunned, having to find her words before responding again.

"Sorry Mr. Reeves, I didn't know...but I'm still confused as to what a man...like yourself...would want with me?"

"Trust me, my need of you is quite a shock to myself. You are my mate." Quinton said grimacing.

"Mate! You're pulling my leg!" Nora said chuckling. "I can't mate...tell him father!"

"...Yes...Sir, we believed that Nora could not mate." Edward said quietly.

"So, once again you presumed and spread words that you did not know as fact? Who made you expert on lupine physiology?" Before Edward could reply, Quinton turned his attentions to Nora once more.

"Disregard what your father said. You are surely my mate. My body tells me so and I am here to claim you."

"What! NO!" Nora shouted. "I don't believe this...I don't feel anything for you...you cannot claim me!" The words spilled out of her mouth.

Quinton's head was lowered but everyone could feel the tension in the air. . Quinton's driver, who'd remained silent, placed a hand upon his shoulder. Quinton quickly calmed.

"Do you think that this is at all good news for me! Do you think I desire to be mated to a country bumpkin! I came here to settle property matters, not to be burdened by a mate. However, it is as I said, and since I do not wish to live without heirs, you shall come to live with me immediately."

"Heirs...? You want me to have children...with you? I'm only twenty-one! I can't-"

"More than ready to bear children. You may not feel the pull as we do, but that is not necessary. You are subordinate to me and shall do as I say."
