Jacob POV

I was worried for her, I knew she was a sleep as she lay against me wrapped in the blankets. Sleeping. That's what I should be doing but I couldn't bring myself to it. We had school tomoorow, not so much a problem for me but for her. Annie was right what if no one likes her, if she gets teased. I wasn't lying to her, I would stick up for her even if it meant losing all my pride and popularity. I wouldn't care, it is for Annie.

I tilted my head to the side and saw that she was still asleep, and that relieved me, the curtain was still open from where she had opened it earlier, the storm still shattering down. At least the animals have calmed down now.

I felt Annie's breathing increase, and she shuddered and tensed against me. Then she screamed. Loud and clear.

"Shhh, it ok Annie. I'm here for you."

I sat up holding her against me.

"It's ok, everything is fine."

She was crying again, a nightmare has woken her up and in tears in my arms she lays.

"Oh Jacob, it was bad. It was all bad."

I rubbed her back not letting her go, I glanced over her shoulder at the clock. 3:41.

"Do you wanna tell me what happened?"

She laid her warm hand against by bare chest.

"Jacob, it was the fire. How they left me there. They just left me."

I suddenly realised what she was talking about. The day my pa brought her home, her family had left her in a burning fire.

"The fire was hot, Jacob..... It lashed against my skin.... It burnt...It scared....I'm dying."

I kissed her on the top of the head.

"You're safe now Annie. Right now, with me, you're safe. I'm not letting anything happen to you."

I rubbed her back again, calming her down.

"I love you Annie."

She laid her head back down on my chest.

"I love you too, Jacob."

She mumbled against me, she was starting to fall asleep again.

"Don't ever leave me.."

I bent my head down towards her ear to reply.

"Never, I will never leave you."
