Chapter 2

Edited by bookiesfan

6 Years later

Nate

Who is she? I know she’s one of the junior students but I didn’t manage to get her name. Something about her made me want to steal a glance at her whenever she wasn’t looking. She is definitely attractive. She never wore make-up except for light lipstick on her lips. She had shoulder length dark brown hair and a beautiful complexion with pink kissable sweet lips. Wow, I wonder how they would feel on mine. I’m not sure of the colour of her eyes because I never had a chance to look at them. Her legs were slim and long, I think she must be 5’7. She would walk graciously to the campus from her hostel with a bag slung across her shoulders wearing tight skinny jeans and a t-shirt smiling and talking to her friends. I was dying to see her smile sweetly at me.

I tried to get to know her, but whenever she saw me walking towards her, she would quickly turn around and walk in the other direction. If she was with her group of friends, she would walk away before I even manage to get to them.  I tried to chase her one day but she managed to speed away from me. She must be a runner in school to be able to get away from me like that.

She was avoiding me. I know, but I wonder why? Is it because she thinks I’m a player? Well, she shouldn’t blame me because I can’t help it if girls love to be around me.  The more she tried to resist me, the more it made me want her.

For three weeks I’ve been trying to find out her name, but to no avail. I asked her friends and they just said “Oh, she’s shy.”

Is she really shy to the point that she doesn’t even want people to know her name? The way I look at it, she’s not shy at all because I’ve seen her laugh, talk, and even walk with some of the boys. Funny isn’t it? Hmm, I just don’t think I can wait any longer; I have to find out her name and really get to know her. Hmm, maybe I should secretly follow her and when she’s alone and doesn’t notice I’m around, I’ll get the chance to talk to her. Yeah, I’ll be a stalker for a while; and watch her every move.

I saw him with a different girl every day. Nate always managed to charm girls since he was a boy. Now that he’s all grown up, I’m not surprised to see girls still love to swamp around him. Yeah, with his looks and masculine body, girls go crazy; except me of course. Even though I don’t like him I can’t help but admit that he’s very good looking.

I didn’t know that he studied in the same college as me. If I knew, I would have applied to another college. I only found out about it when we were introduced to our student body committee, and he’s one of them. I never thought I would ever see him again. I thought I managed to get him out of my life. I know it’s been six years but I still hate him. He might look mature, but does he act like it? So whenever possible I try my best to avoid bumping into him. Whenever I saw him from afar coming towards me, I quickly turned and walked in the other direction, and so far I’m successful, but I don’t know how long that will last.

I was doing some research in the library and by the time I finished it was already dark. My friends had gone home and I quickly gathered my things and headed back to my hostel. I normally walked back as it was only a few blocks away from the campus. There were only a few students around since it already late.

As I was walking I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around, but there was no one there. Must be my imagination, I thought to myself and continued walking. Then I heard it again. I turned around and I saw a boy walking towards me, fast. I gulped and walked faster but I could still feel him following me, and catching too. I ran as fast as I could until I bumped into someone.

“I’m sorry,” I apologised, “Please help me!” I said trying to catch my breath at the same time. I didn’t even look at him but I kept looking back. The culprit managed to catch up with me and stopped when he saw me with this guy. The guy pushed me behind him protecting me from the culprit.

“What’s going on here, Jake?” he asked the culprit.

“Sorry Nate, I didn’t mean a thing. I was actually returning this to her,” he said handling me my file. “You left it in the library just now, miss.”

I peeked from behind and let out a nervous laughed, “Thank you.” I said and stood beside Nate. “I’m sorry I thought you’re a stalker.”

“It ok,” the one called Jake smiled sweetly at me, “I’m sorry I scared you.”

I nodded shyly at him. Jake waved goodbye and walked back in the opposite direction. I could feel Nate was staring at me while I put my file in my sling bag. Without looking at him I said, “Thank you,” and quickly walked away.

“Hey, wait!” he said grabbing my wrist. Damn he’s fast. “Let me accompany you,” he offered. “We don’t want a real stalker follow you, huh?”

“It’s ok,” I said pulling my hand away from him, “I’m nearly there. Thanks anyway.” I said and walked quickly away from him.

I could feel him following me until suddenly he was walking beside me; “Well since I helped you just now, don’t you think we should introduce ourselves?” he said catching up with my pace.

I kept on walking without looking at him, “I’ve already know you, you’re Nate, one of the senior students.”

“Ok, you know me, but I don’t know you.” he said sweetly.

I rolled my eyes and when we reach my hostel I stopped and looked at him and sighed, “Maybe I don’t want you to know who I am.”

“Why not?” he smiled.

“Because I hate you.” I told him simply, and walked in.
