When he did this, his hands where pressed firmly against the male's chest and pushing all his weight on him. The creature crawls away some when the man starts a coughing fit. F/N turns onto his side and rids himself of the salt water he had ingested when he drowned. The merman watches curiously as the man breathes heavily to regain lost oxygen. F/N looks over to the figure that appeared blurred in his vision. Believing that this was a human that saved his life, he musters a hoarse "thank you" before coughing multiple times. The creature purrs by rolling his tongue while looking confused, for he didn't understand a word of the human's language.

'This creature makes strange noises.'

"W-what happened? How did I get here?" F/N asks, hoping the person in front of him would be able to answer. His vision had yet to fully return to him, though, so he hasn't realized his savior isn't human yet. The man receives a few clicks of the tongue in response as the creature crawls on top of him to observe.

The merman made sure his tail stayed submerged in water, for it would mean he'd dehydrate at a horrifyingly quick rate. Pointy nails poke at some of the man's features, such as his skin and hair. Something the black-haired creature found interesting was the similarities between them. Most of his upper body resembled the human's. F/N's brows scrunch together in confusion after he blinks a few times to clear his vision.

It was then that he fully saw his savior's looks. With eyes wide with fear and shock, he lies still on the sand. With him being positioned under the merman, he could view it's features clearly, but it was obvious the creature was not human without even looking at his tail. There were many rows of jagged teeth in their mouth and scales coating his pale flesh. The hand that prodded him has sharp nails and thin, webbed fingers.

It frightened, yet intrigued, F/N. A sudden, ear piercing screech escapes the creatures lips when a sharp rock scrapes against the sensitive underside of his tail when it moves in the shallow water, forming a long gash along the side of the black tail. Blood spills into the clear water as he thrashes and screams, the salt of the sea not helping the pain. F/N crawls out from under the merman to get out of his way, his heart beating quickly as worry consumes him. When he tries to reach out and touch the creature, he has to retract his hand quickly, for the merman snaps his jaws at the appendage. It would've been ripped clean off if he hadn't reacted quickly. Shakily, F/N gets to his feet before peering around in search of something that might help. In the distance, he spots chimney smoke rising into the clear sky past the small grove of trees. F/N then turns back around to face the whimpering merman rolling around in the sand and water.

"H-hold on. I-I'll go get you some help." F/N stumbles while running towards the smoke. Eventually, he comes across a small home amongst the trees and stops on the porch, in front of the door, before banging his fist against the wooden object frantically.

"Help! Please! I need your help!" He shouts until the door is opened by an elderly lady with dark-toned skin. F/N stumbles back, but quickly steadies himself.

"Please, I need y-your help! S-someone's bleeding out," he explains quickly while out of breath. The woman's brown orbs widen in shock, and she nods her head to show she understands before running back into her house. A few moments pass before she comes out with a first-aid-kit she grabbed from her bathroom.

"Show me," she demands in a deeply accented voice that the man barely understood. F/N nods and hurriedly brings the woman to the beach, where the merman continues trashing around. The lady stops in her tracks and stares at the beast in shock. This was not what she had expected on saving. She shakes her head, her dark brown hair flowing with her motions, to snap out of it.
