"Jimin."

I looked up upon hearing my name. There stood Layla, and she looked like she'd been through a hurricane and came out alive somehow. She looked like a mess.

My eyes widened.

"Layla. Are you okay?"

She gave me a weak smile. And then, she started sobbing.

I hurriedly went around the counter and hugged her. The poor girl was shaking so bad.

"Shh. It's alright."

I helped her sit in one of the booth, and squatted in front of her, patting her back.

"I miss her so much. She hasn't talked to me this whole week. Does it t-take this long to get settled into a new house? Did she...did she forget about me already?"

I let out a sigh.

I could imagine how Layla felt. I felt similar, even though we both had mutually decided to cut off all contacts. But I still wanted to talk to her.

"No. She hasn't forgotten about you. In fact, I'm pretty sure she thinks about you all the time. She...must be busy with the new place. She'll call you or text you soon."

Layla sniffled, wiping away her tears.

"You promise?"

"Yes. I do. Now stop crying. I'll make you coffee."

"And waffles."

"... And waffles."

I shook my head, a sad smile on my face.

What are you doing, Amber?
