*FLASHBACK*

Logan's POV

Brendan was busy configuring his camera, so Logan ran through his vocal warmups, stretching his face side to side, blowing air through his lips, shouting out random tongue twisters.

OW NOW BROWN COW. UNIQUE NEW YORK UNIQUE NEW YORK.

He made silly faces in the mirror, checking to make sure he didn't have any food in his teeth.

Looking sexy as per usual.

"Brendan, you good?"

"Yeah bro."

He turned back around, and Brendan gave him the thumbs up.

F*ck yeah, let's do this thing.

He turned to grab a plate from the counter, smashing it to pieces on the kitchen floor.

"AYOOO Logang, what's poppin'!"

He gave the camera his cheesiest smile.

"Today is a big day."

He threw up his arms for dramatic effect.

"Welcome to the new apartment!"

He paused, thinking for a moment. Did he remember to get dog food for Kong?

Ass. Ass, ass, ass.

"Brendan, where's Lydia?"

"I think she's in the hallway bro."

He moved over to the front door, shouting as he opened it,

"Lydia, I need—!"

Woah.

He stopped just outside the door.

It wasn't Lydia.

A girl faced him in the middle of the hallway, brown curly hair partially concealing her face. She was average height, and looked around his age, maybe a little younger, but that could be because she didn't wear a lot of makeup. Her eyes held this kind of innocence, and the longer he looked at her, the more he realized she was kind of beautiful.

He flashed her a coy smile. "Heyyy!"

She blushed.

How f*cking cute.

Logan turned around to face the inside of the apartment.

"Brendan, quick sidebar, quick sidebar..."

He backtracked into the apartment, laughing at Brendan's bemused expression.

"Bro...she's kinda hot."

Brendan laughed, turning off the camera. "Alright, what are the odds you hook up with her?"

"Bro!"

"Tonight."

"BRO!"

"I dare you."

"Come on..."

"Ahh, I knew it. You can't do it. You can't do it."

Now Evan was behind him, poking him in the ribs.

"Bro! Don't do this..."

"You can't do it, you can't do it."

Logan grinned, "You know I have to if you tell me I won't..."

He took a deep breath and opened up the door, preparing to give the girl an award-winning smile...

She wasn't there.

He turned his head in confusion, then saw her headed down the hallway towards the front door. She was nearly halfway there.

Well, sh*t.

"Heyy! Hey wait! Stop!"

She didn't slow down—if anything, she started to walk even faster.

The f*ck was her problem?

"Damn, you're fast! Stop, just wait a minute!" He sped up his pace.

"Come on, I just want to talk!"

She reached the door at the end of the hallway.

You think you can outrun me?

Just as she was beginning to pull it open, he reached past her head and slammed it shut.

Not a chance.

His next words came out breathy.

"Where are you off to in such a hurry?"

She turned around agonizingly slowly, face titled up ever so slightly.

Her soft brown eyes made his heart beat an unsteady rhythm.
