================================
"Good morning, Love!" Jacob ripped the warm covers from your body, exposing yourself to the biting air of your carriage.
"Jacob!" You turned over and hid your head under your pillow.
"You said that we have to train today, so we're training today." He shrugged at you cheekily.

Reluctantly, you swung your legs over the side of your mattress and stood up. "Fine," you sighed. "Go and let me change." Excited, he bounded out of the room.
"Hurry up!"

[#^•^#]

Dressed and fully armed, Jacob led you behind a Rook stronghold. "Now, love," He shedded his coat, momentarily popping it to the side. His hidden blade and belt was discarded along with it. Whilst rolling up his sleeves and shaking his arms out, he said, "Let's see if you can beat me at my favourite game." His top hat flew off his head and landed on his clothing like a cherry on a cupcake.

Blushing at the multiple implications of his words, you obstinately readied your stance and pulled your hands up. "Are you gonna say when you're gonna go, or–" Of course, you didn't get to finish your sentence as his fist came hurling towards your face. Gasping, you leaped backwards, dodging just in time.

"Rule number one," Jacob chuckled. "Stop talking." You composed yourself to settle your pounding heart before anticipating his next hit towards your diaphragm. You inevitably fell for his feint, as his hand pulled back fast and was replaced with a blow to your ribs. You groaned and stumbled backwards, clutching your left side.
"Hey!" You whined. "What gives?!"
"When you're in a fight, no one will give you any mercy. If you don't get hit, how will you learn?"

"It's way too early in the morning for this..." You grumbled, shaking your limbs out and catching the glare of the rising sun.
"Are you ready this time?" Jacob quirked an eyebrow. You opened your mouth to speak but thought better of it and nodded instead. It was just as well because Jacob went for your throat. You lean back and blocked his fingers, shoving them aside.

You were good. You were just half asleep.

It seemed that Jacob went a little bit lax for a few moments, waiting for you to build enough confidence to land a few hits of your own.

You went for his cheek, but he quickly ducked. You struck a perfect balance in your stance and kicked him in the chest, knocking him back a bit. "Waking up finally, eh?" He puffed some air out of his lungs. "Let's make it harder."

Without missing a beat, he lunged for you, wrapping an arm around your neck and pulling you under his shoulder in a chokehold. Slamming your hand on his thigh, you grabbed his waistcoat with your other fingers and unlatched his hand from your neck, ducking out from under him, pulling his limb along with you. You deflected him, your heel meeting his back.

"Wow," He panted, wiping sweat off his forehead. "I think you're great with that." He headed for his coat and took out a patch of cloth, cleaning his face. Offering it out with an extended arm, you did the same, also stripping your overcoat from your body. How you managed to survive this long with it on? You'll never know.

"Next up," He unsheathed his kukri and struck down on you. Your reflexes were your strong suit, and your cane sword fell into your hands in a jiffy, clashing with Jacob's metallic weapon. He leaned toward you– so close, in fact, your breaths were practically mingling. "Your favourite."
