Clapping hands hey danced round the ballroom happily laughing the ballgowns swaying beautiful,

The tears dripping onto the paper Alexander's hand gripping onto johns fathers letter.

People are dancing, happily in a ballroom, happily dancing to the best of the music here everything in time has froze nothing can break into the happiness they have created.

"I love you Alexander! Don't you get that." John spoke standing inside the small tent Alex packing up ready to head back home, the war had ended.

"John I have kids... a wife... it's wrong. I'm sorry my dear friend." He spoke walking out the tent as if forcing himself to walk away as if the tent was burning behind him, the memories of loving his best friend burning, everything burning engulfed into the flame that surrounded Alexander's heart.

"Alexander I LOVED YOU FIRST..."

"He loved me first." Alexander mumbled his fingers grazing over the stone that had 'John Laurens' engraved into it, he fought the bucket of tears that was going to wash over the ground before hearing a low him he turned to see Angelica a single rose in her hand the thorns pricking into her skin but she didn't mind the pain mellowed the pain isn't as bad as losing someone,

"You loved him?" She spoke a little taken back by what she heard but didn't show her confused curiosity,

"I-I.... I would be lying if I said he was just a friend." Sighed Alexander his eyes glancing down at the thorn, blood dripping down the rose.

"Angelica your finger..." he mumbled reaching out to help her when she shook her head, "it helps me cope with the pain of being in this cemetery." She explained setting down in front of the stone,

"You loved him... that's okay... loving someone is not illegal." She spoke she looked down at her finger seeing the blood begin to dry up,

"Yes but Eliza... I love her too... I love her... I loved him... I love- I - love- love- I " he looked down he couldn't stop trembling his words began to trip up as he spoke to Angelica,

"You held high regards for your comrade." She spoke in a way Alexander knew what she meant, she meant.

'You loved him Alexander...'

"I - yes... I held high regards for my comrade... yes... that's it." He chuckles dryly coughing afterwards.

"You didn't love me once." She sighed smiling a little,
"Although I am not a solider or my sister... you couldn't find room in that heart for... me." She continued popping up her black umbrella to shield herself from the rain that began to pour from the grey clouds above, speechless Alexander looked down gripping onto his cravat to hold back his emotions,

"I- I have high regards for you too Angelica." He Spoke patting her back a little, he began to walk away from the grave sight.

"High regards." She chuckled taking one last glance down at her finger.
