From a glance they are alive
But anyone who knows will tell you the truth
For you only see the glow they all once gave
As the stars were already gone before you could see them
For even light can only go so fast between the vast distance of the universe
All you're seeing is reruns of the same old shows after they canceled.
The thing is, there are those who swear that a miraculous few are actually alive
They say it is the stars that shine the brightest in the sky
But they can only live for a short time
As they are in the midst of their supernova
And before they explode silently in the deep depths of space
They expand and shine as much as they can for you to see
Before they fade away in an instant.
This is not true unfortunately
Because they want you to believe they're living stars
So we won't notice them as they continue to observe us from a distance.
