Chapter 28 🔥 The Cave

Start from the beginning

She was met with silence. A waiting silence.

"Fine! The answer is shadow. Happy? How many questions in total will I have to answer?"

"What you see is what you get. You cannot compare me with the rest."

"Huh? What the fudge is that? Can't you elaborate? That is sooo general in term. Could be anything. Not fair." She complained. More like whine actually. Riddles were not her cup of tea either.

"What you see is what you get. You cannot compare me with the rest. I'm neither your worst nor your best."

"What the fudge! Think Vee think." Venus was turning her brain upside down but couldn't find any answer. And to think it was just the second question.

"What you see. . ."

"Oh, shut the fudge up! I get it. I'm thinking. There's no time limit on this, right?"

Again silence. . .

"Um, what's the consequences if I cannot answer?" She asked after a few moments of thinking and not coming up with an answer. "I don't mean that I don't know the answer, just a question!" She added in a haste.

A bright light appeared on the far end of the room then two crystal tanks appeared with both Marcus and Aldrik inside on each of it. Venus run to them and tried everything to smash the tank but nothing worked. Even her fire didn't. All efforts remained futile.

The two princes started to stir awake, "Marcus! Aldrik! Are you okay?" She tapped the tank alternately.

"Vee. . ." Marcus said her name with so much longing in it that it made Venus want to burst out crying. She again started to pounce on the tank harder with all she got.

"Stop Vee. It's indestructible. These crystals are called purifiers. It makes you vulnerable to your own powers. . ."

"You're now ready to listen to the rules of our game?" The voice butted in before Aldrik could finish what he wanted to say. It sounded pleased, mischievous.

"What's your freaking rules, freak." Venus answered indignant, her hands crossed on her breasts arrogantly. She was starting to have a really bad feeling about it, that it's about to get nasty. Now more than ever, she'd rather be outside the cave. Fighting monsters seemed more appealing than what was about to happen in their twisted game.

"Anyone can answer the question. By anyone means, all three of you so it would be fair. . ." The voice paused emphasizing on the word fair, goading her more. But Venus on the other hand remained silent, seething inside.

". . . Every correct answer leads to the next question which leads to the freedom of the captives. Every wrong answer leads to punishment to the one who gave the answer. Which means that in the case of the captive, a new level of water rising up and in the case of the seeker, an additional question to the list. Last but not the least, in every unanswered question leads to punishment for the three of you. All clear?"

"W-what do you mean by water rising up?" Vee asked nervously, not liking the insinuations.

"The tank is there for a purpose." The voice answered.

"Water tank, you mean." Aldrik spat.

"You mean to drown us. How creative." Marcus added sarcastically.
