Imagine:

I hear a constant tap at the window and smile to myself. I rest my pen in the middle of my notebook and make my way across the room to the window. I heave it open and a gush of cold air flows into the room, making me shiver a little.

"I'm surprised you open up," Shawn says.

I smile as he leans against the tree nearby, his hands in his pockets. "Yeah, my parents aren't back yet, so we're safe for now."

I swing my legs over the window sill and watch Shawn climb up the tree carefully and sit down on a thick branch opposite me. He's still trying to find a way into my bedroom from the tree, but for now he's taken my advice of staying put. A few months ago, Shawn broke his wrist trying to get into my room. He had to go to the hospital and get a cast, which meant both of our parents found out about the late-night visits to be with each other.

"Isn't your mum home?" I ask him.

"She is, but I told her I was going skateboarding in the park."

I laugh. "And she believed you? No one goes after the sky darkens-"

He runs his hand through his hair. "Well she can't stop me from seeing you. I wanted to check up on you. You weren't replying to my texts and I thought something happened."

I watch him stare at me and giggle. "You're so sweet Shawn, but you don't have to be scared. We have exams next week, so I haven't had time to catch up on social media."

He sticks his bottom lip out in a pout and folds his arms. "You think studying is better than talking to me? That's not fair."

I laugh again at his childishness and he smiles as he loves making me laugh. "If it means getting A's for university, then yes. I'd rather study than be with Shawn Mendes." I tease him.

"I'm leaving. Call me back when you finally care Y/n."

I swing my legs back over and get into my room. "Will gladly do Shawn," I shout over my shoulder. He's still sat in the same spot. I wink at him and blow and kiss. "Don't miss me too much Shawnie."

He groans and I laugh at him. I love these moments with Shawn, especially when I get to joke around with him. Just being with him makes everything better.

A sudden thud in my room makes me jump as I fall to the ground. I turn around and Shawn is lying on top of me, his breathing fast but a smile on his face and his eyes glistening.

"I did it! I made it into your room-"

"Shawn! You could've hurt yourself! Why did you do that?"

He helps me up onto the bed and sits me down on his lap so that I straddle him. I wrap my arms around his neck and bring my forehead to his.

"Do you really think I was going to let you get away so quickly?"

I laugh and squirm as he kisses the edge of my jaw softly, going up and down it. "Correct me if I'm wrong Mendes, but you were the one who wanted to leave first."

He stops and faces at me. His eyes sparkling in the dim lighting of my room and I can feel their intense stare. "Is that so Y/n?" he asks, a hint a mischief in his voice.

Before I know it, Shawn starts tickling me, his cold hands sliding under my jumper, knowing that I hate cold things against my skin.

"Stop!" I shout in between fits of laughter and tears. His face is stretched into a wide smile as I try to tickle him back, but Shawn's a lot bigger and stronger than I am.

After watching me struggle and cry he finally stops, but he shields himself so that I don't reach him.

I lie on my back and try to get my breath back. I look over at Shawn and he's still covering himself. "You're such a wimp Mendes," I say. "Come here."

He move towards me and lies down diagonally, his head resting on my stomach. I run my hands through his soft hair.

"I missed you Y/n," Shawn says.

"Aww Shawn. I was only gone for 1 day without seeing or talking to you. We'll see each other again at college tomorrow."

"I know, but I love you so much. I feel so lonely without speaking to you."

"I love you too Shawn and-"

"Y/N?" my mum yells.

Shawn and I both jump out of bed and scurry to the window.

I wrap my arms around Shawn and he hugs me tight. I tip toe to reach his lips and he kisses me softly and sadly, like he doesn't want to let go. I pull away, scared that my mum will walk in any minute now.

Shawn takes my hands and kisses the back of them. "Facetime me tonight Y/n, okay?"

I nod my head. "I love you Shawn."

"I love you too Y/n." He pecks me on the lips and climbs out of the window. He lowers himself until he reaches the ground and I watch him climb over the side-fence until he picks his skateboard up and skateboards into the darkness.
