Imagine:

I turn up at Y/n's doorstep. Today's the only day, the only chance I have to tell her about things, before it gets worse.

She appears and opens the door. I look into her eyes and they immediately tear up.

"Shawn," she whispers.

Her face is emotionless, but tears stream down her face. I feel the urge to reach out, wipe her tears away, cancel my promo stuff for tomorrow and just be with her. But I can't.

"You didn't call me once, or reply to any of my messages," she says. "It's getting hard for me Shawn, I need to talk to you."

I sigh. I knew I wasn't good enough. "I need to talk to you too."

She invites me inside her house and we sit down at either ends of the living room. I take a deep breath and get to the point straight away. "Y/n, I-I don't think things are working out for us. You need to forget about me, forget everything that has happened-"

"Shawn, I can't forget everything just like that!"

I get up and walk up to the window. My mind is muddled with thoughts, and I cannot think clearly, but one thing I do know is that I want Y/n to be happy, even if that means a life without each other. I take a deep breath to clear my mind. She comes over and stands beside me. From the corner of my eye, I catch her watching me carefully.

I turn and face her. I take her face in my hands, and watch her eyes scanning mine, searching for a reason, an answer, anything. "I want you to be happy Y/n. Forget about me, move on. You'll find someone who will give you the time I didn't, someone who will call you every night. This is hard for me as much as it is for you, it took everything in me to say it and it's the last thing I wanted."

The tears start to pour down her face again as she sobs. But I can't do anything. I want to cry too. I need to get out from here.

"I'm sorry Y/n. I'm sorry but I have to go."
