Chapter 8

It was the night. The night I have been waiting for. My 18th birthday. 

Hinihiling ko na sana makarating siya. For another week, bigla na naman siyang hindi nagparamdam sakin. I know he's busy, that he can't make time for me kahit isang araw lang. He said sorry, yes. But I feel like sorry isn't enough. How can he be missing on this special day? It's my 18th birthday. Our 6th year anniversary as best friends.

Naghihintay lang ako sa dressing room ng clubhouse dito samin. I'm all dressed. Few minutes more, magsisimula na ang pinakahihintay kong gabi. I'm now turning into a lady. But I don't have an escort. Oh well, siguro hindi na nga siya pupunta. But I have to make it. I have to show the people, my visitors, that even without my escort, this debut party is still going to continue.

Narinig ko na ang tunog ng hudyat na magsisimula na. Nagdasal na sila. I heard the emcees praying together with the guests. Kinakabahan na ako. Nangangatog, kasi hindi ko alam kung paano ako haharap sa mga bisita ko na masaya ako, kung talaga namang malungkot ako ngayon.
