"Uhhhh."
I heard the moans of pain of my fellow classmates around me, what had just happened? Our plane got struck by lightning and within moments of that we had hit the water. Multiple of us were greatly injured while few only walked out with a few cuts and bruises amongst themselves, I was one of the wounded. Two of the guys were getting together and pulling people from the wreckage and as soon as my leg was free I had sat up with pain and began inspecting my surroundings and with instinct I asked "Survivors and fatalities?"
The one guy looked dumb found and the other glanced back with a deep breathe "Everyone's alive, our generation wise."
I frowned and held up my hand for him to help me up and he did. I hobbled over to where the cock pit was, it was dug into the sand and when I peered I saw a bloody body and a dead pilot and co pilot. I sighed unhappily while moving to check for the adults, one was laying dead on the beach from multiple wounds to the upper body and the other was gone.
"Supplies?"
"We don't know."
Kids were groaning and I just turned to back to the ship "I'm the one with the most experience with medicines and parts off of machines. Which one of you guys have the most knowledge with plants?"
I heard someone snort and turned to see the most popular and most athletic guy walking towards me, he had a cut running down the side of his head and that was all I could see "You think that the moment we crash you can take control?"
"I do. I have the most experience and therefor my personality is best and most fit to be in the role." I replied and he only threw his head back laughing "You gonna form us into roles or somethin?"
"Maybe I am."
"Who's gonna be your second?"
"That is undecided for the moment."
He sighed and gave up "What do you need?"
I ran over a list of items through my mind "Moss, make it wet please. I then need cobwebs, strong sticks, and sharp rocks, vines..." I listed off the rest and he nodded, clearly not liking the fact that he wasn't in charge and he nodded to the two guys and the three went off to search for items.
Only 2 other people remained, my best friend and a guy who were searching for people in the wreckage. They saw me and immediately pointed to a spot in the shade near the trees where people lay and I rushed over and assessed every body I saw.
The worst was a boy, he had metal dug straight into his leg and multiple lacerations to the chest and his arm was twisted at odd angles. I couldn't treat him till I had the supplies so I jumped to another easy to treat patient who was holding her shoulder and whimpering in pain and I reached out to touch her shoulder but she jerked away since she didn't recognize me and I only spoke softly to her "Melody, it's me, Gabby."
She blinked a few times and began to cry "I can't see! I CAN'T SEE!!"
I began to shush her and coo "Its okay! Shhh, I promise you it's probably just temporary."
But I wasn't sure, she slowly began to stop crying and huffed a few times "I think my shoulders dislocated."
I took a glance and clearly it was, she couldn't move it at all and she was in a lot of pain which was clear by the silent tears still rolling down her face.
Slowly did I push her onto her back before position her arm at a 90 degree angle from her body, I had read up on how to relocate an arm and this was the easiest solution. Firmly she got a hold at the wrist of the arm and gently cooed again "This will hurt a bit."
She then gently but firmly began pulling the arm and Melody cried out as the bone slid back into the place and then she gently let the arm go and rest on the ground and the girl began to cry more. I sighed and wiped my forehead, it went well but when I glanced back at the rest of the people, everyone was now looking at me and the one guy spoke up "How'd you do that?"
I gulped and replied as steadily as I could "It helps when you spent your years in elementary school reading on medical things and plants and such, but they were old, I doubt they'll be quite useful here."
I gave everyone else a glance before turning to the other people laying on the ground around me with a sigh. 5 people laying around me, 3 boys and two girls.
For once in my life, I was absolutely terrified. I had no idea what part of the world we were on and it was crazy.
~~~
Some while later did the 3 boys return, arms full of supplies. The two boys who had went along walked up to me and put all the stuff on the ground but not on the sand and the other one, the popular one, placed other stuff elsewhere and began crafting stuff that could be useful.
I searched through the items, the moss would be helpful and I had grabbed it quickly. Multiple people were bleeding and moss needed to be applied along with some cobweb to hold it down so I first applied cobweb and then some moss green side down. I did this to all the terrible wounds and closed up small ones with just cobweb since there was heaps of it.
Only those few moments later did I hear a couple of guys fighting and when I looked over I sighed, clenched my fists, counted down from 10 and took a deep breathe before calmly approaching and when I spoke I could tell that I had venom dripping off each letter "Randy, back off. Mac, you too."
The other guys backed off except for the main two "Bellamy, Isiah, what the hell is going on here?"
Bellamy only spun to face me and pointed a vicious finger in my face "I don't have to tell you shit, you don't lead us."
I narrowed my eyes at him, I had to keep my anger in check "If you don't take your finger out of my face I will break it. Right now."
Isiah grabbed his hand and pressed his arm to his chest and pushed him "This idiot wants to part from the group, nevertheless he told me he thought the injured were a liability!"
He growled and went to yell but I raised a finger "Shut your trap." I took a step forward, getting right in his face "Run all you want, these people are our responsibility. I can't believe you were one of the lucky ones to walk out of there without a SCRATCH!" I yelled the last bit, he seemed to flinch since I got reaaaallllyyyy close to him. "These people are MY responsibility and I'm the one stepping up to take control so we all don't go down in CHAOS!! Go, leave. Run off with your little boy friends, when you do that, you'll die." I turned towards the sun and used my hand against the horizon "We have less then an hour till sundown, you go in there, who knows what comes out at night. Maybe they'll eat you."
I spun and walked away, making sure to lift my chin while I did so and I heard Isiah hiss at him "Words of wisdom right there."
I knew it wasn't that good of a speech to him but that was all I needed to do and before I knew it I was being looked up to you and had to assign people to jobs "I need 3 people to start collecting strong sticks. Something that can hold for a while."
3 hands shot up, 2 jocks, Tanner and Rubin while 1 female called Paola too had their hands up "You 3, don't spread out maybe only a couple feet but it could get you killed. Your supplies collectors though, remember that."
"Isiah is lead Tracker, you choose 2 more to be with you as hunters."
Immediately he pointed at Jaha and they set out to see if they could find some food, meanwhile he passed me he had whispered that he also wanted Hunter who was injured so I took note of that and continued.
"We needs guards?"
A calloused hand was raised from the back, it was Bellamy, and oh did I mention he was about a year older then all of us since he missed a year of school? Yeah, I know right!
"Bellamy is lead, Mac and Melissa will join him. Of course, when Mac's leg is healed he will join them of course."
"Tristin, Randy, and Lind will be the craftsman and will craft us weapons, Lind will join you when she is done recovering."
Jaelin and Lynnshae, the two other girls who were literally useless cuddled on the sand, very scared clearly and I sighed. Octavia was pacing, she was the arrogant cocky one. She had almost killed a guard as well which I why I didn't call on her.
Just then did a high pitched scream split the air from in the trees and Rubin yelled "Paola!!"
People went rushing through the brush and I pushed my way through "Move it!"
Everybody was crowding something but when I got through I couldn't believe my eyes.
It was a skeleton.
The meat very freshly torn from the bones.
Too fresh to be true.
And the worst part was, it was human.
