"(Y/n) (L/n)?" I asked. She looked surprised but nodded.

"I'll need the money back. It didn't belong to her." I said. Ms.N looked surprised.

"S-sir...We really need this money. Who did she take it from? I'll pay them back." she said.

"The royals." I said. She looked shocked.

"W-what?!" she asked in disbelief.

"Ms, (Y/n) (L/n) had been charged with stealing from the royals. She is being hung at dawn." I said, no emotion coming from me. Ms.N didn't say anything.

"But she did it for a good cause. Sh-"

"She stole from the royals, the automatic penalty is dea-"

"SHE IS SAVING THE LIVES OF CHILDREN!!" she screamed, we both stopped.

"What?" I asked. She looked down but quickly left the room, muttering for me to follow. I hurriedly ran down the hall after her.

We stopped in front of a curtain. She looked at me before pulling back the curtain. Inside were dozen of sick children.

All looked pale and thin. They coughed and coughed, their eyes dull.

"She stole the money for these children. They won't make it without medicine." she said, going to a child and placing her hand on their forehead.

I felt my body move on its own, I raced out of the orphanage, praying to not be too late.

Your POV

I watched as the leaves fell. It was the beginning of fall. The kids favorite season. I wouldn't be spending this fall with them. Or any other fall. I smiled as the memories played through my mind. The children running, laughing, playing.

Ms.N laughing along. I wouldn't see them anymore. I wouldn't see any of them grow up. I wouldn't see them fall in love. I wouldn't see them have kids of their own. I wouldn't be there for the new kids that came to the orphanage.

I smiled, remembering how I had told Ms.N that I would help at the orphanage when I was older. Saying that I would make sure the kids would never go hungry anymore. Saying that no kids would die because of not getting medicine they needed.

I broke that promise.

I broke all of their promises.

I said I would be there.

I said I would protect them.

I looked up as my cell door opened. No one spoke, but I knew. I stood up and started walking. We walked for a while before coming to a door. They pushed it open. I felt the warm sun on me.

What a beautiful day to die.

They pushed me forward. A few feet in front of me, was the platform. There was a crowd. I walked until I was by the steps. I took a deep breath before I started up.

I knew the children would be fine without me. They were strong. I was pushed to the middle of the stage. I looked over the people, a group in the back catching my eyes. It was the kids, each had a different face, a different story.

I smiled, hoping that it would put some of them to ease. I knew they felt scared.

I felt the rope being placed around my neck. It was tightened. The started talking after the rope was secure, but I didn't listen.

Memories ran through my mind. Of my child hood. My parents. My friends, Ms.N, the orphanage kids, PJ. I felt tears fall down my face.

I had been so confused by the feeling in my chest. It was love. I was glad that at least I had felt what love was. Wanting to spend your life with someone.

I opened my eyes and looked over the people one last time. I saw a familiar face shoving through the crowd.

"Stop!" he screamed. "Stop! You're making a mistake!"

But no one heard him. I smiled, He stopped as he noticed me looking at him.

"It's going to be ok." I mouthed, I saw his eyes filled with tears.

"No! No! (Y/N)! Stop!" he continued to scream. He made eye contact once again, his eyes filled with regret. I knew that look well. I smiled.

"I love you."  Was the last thing I said.

Before they pulled the lever.

"(Y/n)? a voice called, I opened my eyes, the light burning them. I opened my eyes to see the smiling face of him. My best friend.

"I've decided," he said, "I don't want to be a guard anymore." he leaned back against the tree.

"What do you wanna do?" I asked, tilting my head. He looked at me, smiling.

"I wanna stay with you!" I smiled. A warm feeling spreading throughout my body.

"Me too PJ."
