"Sans?" I called out. It was late and I hadn't seen him leave his office.

"Sans?" I said again, pushing his office door open. Inside I found a sleeping Sans. I giggled as he snored softly.

"You gotta stop falling asleep like this." I say, chasing it with a chuckle. I look around and see a blanket in the corner. I retrieve it and lay it over Sans.

He smiles slightly but doesn't stir. I smile and exit his office, heading to the lab. I flip the switch and the room is filled with a blinding light.

I blink a few time to allow my eyes to adjust to the sudden change. Once my eyes adjust I head over to my desk in the corner. I see my current project papers lying askew.

I was currently working with Sans on experimenting on a human soul. We never did and dangerous experiments because I was the test subject. We just saw how it reacted towards certain things. Such as likes, dislikes, etc.

I look at the time and see it is 1:34 in the morning. I decide that I should have enough time to do a few experiments. With that decided I start my tests.

"Where did I put my pencil?" I murmur to myself, searching my desk. I find it on top of some of Sans's papers. A few words catch my eye.

I skim it and see it was about how the human soul reacted upon getting hurt. I gasp as an idea pops into my head.

I race over to our tools. I pick up a scalpel. I was curious how the human soul reacted when the person caused harm to themselves intentionally. We knew how it acted when hurt by others but we never thought about how it reacted upon physical harm.

I take a deep and press the scalpel into my arm and drag it. I hiss and drop the item on the ground. My eyes fill with tears as I pull my soul out. It's...throbbing??

"(Y/n)!!" Sans screams, racing into the room. In a matter of seconds he is by my side.

"S-sans?" I question. How did he know something was going to happen?

"(Y/n)! What did you do? A-are you ok?" he asks, his eyes drifting to my arm. He gasps and snaps his fingers. A cloth appears and he presses it onto my wound.

"Sans? How did you-"

"My soul." he says before I can finish my sentence.

"What?"

"My soul started...throbbing." he said. I remembered that my soul was also throbbing. Was it possibly connected?

"Was that all?" I ask, temporarily forgetting about my arm. That is, until he pressed a little harder. I hiss and feel more tears drip down my face. Sans quickly cleans it and wrap it securely.

"(Y/n)," he said, wiping my tears. "what happened?" he asked.

"I, uh, was doing a test and-" I said, trailing off at the end. How do I explain that I purposely caused this for the sake of research. I look down at my lap.

"(Y/n)?" I felt his fingers wipe away the tears. He lifted my face to meet his gaze.

"Was, throbbing the only, thing that happened?" I asked, curious about why his soul seemed to have an effect by my pain.

"Yes, wait, why?" he asks. I bit my lip and thought for a moment. I gasped as I remembered a book I saw. I stand up and bolt towards the book case. After a few moments of searching, I see it! On the top shelf.

I groan and jump to reach it. A blue light surrounds the book and lowers it down to my. I grab it and run to my desk, muttering a quick thanks to Sans. I hear him chuckle and walk to my side.

I reach for some of my papers and a pencil. I jot down a few things and flip through the book.

"What are you-"

"Shhhh." I say, placing a finger up in silence. I stop at the page and skim through it, jotting things down as I go. I feel Sans breathing on the back of my neck.

I squeal in delight as I figure out the meaning. I grasp the papers and jump around.

"Yes!!!" I cheer. I freeze when I hear a deep chuckle. I feel my face turning a bright red.

"So, what did you find out?" he asked. I cough and hand him my research.

"I was doing a few experiments and I thought, 'how does the human soul react to being harmed by the souls body?' So I did what any non-normal person would do, I tested it, on myself." I said smiling.

Sans face went from a look of amusement to a look of shock. He looked through it quickly before summoning a paper of his own.

I watched as a blue hue appeared on his face. I peered over his shoulder. As I skimmed the papers I felt my face become even redder.

"S-so it's like the r-red string of fate?" I stutter out.

"I-I guess." he says.

"W-well, maybe it's wrong." I suggest, "Maybe, maybe its changed? Maybe that isn't how it works. Maybe-"

Sans presses his teeth against mine, silencing me. He pulls away, his face bluer, if it was even possible.

"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I just, I-" Now it was my turn to cut him off. I grabbed him by the collar and pulled him closer, pressing my lips on his teeth.

"Sans," I start, after I pull away, "I-I like you." I stutter out, looking away. I hear a familiar deep chuckle.

"Oh really? I didn't notice." he said. I was about to say something when he pulled me into his chest. "I like you too." he whispered. I blushed and wrapped my arms around his rib cage.

"But you really need to stop working yourself so hard." I said. I heard him sigh.

"Yeah, yeah. Hey, are you made of copper and tellurium? Because you're Cu Te." he said. I giggled.

"That is probably the lamest pick up line ever." I said chuckling. "You big dork."

"Yes, but I'm your big dork."
