Someone requested a Mafiatale x reader and I'm gonna be honest and can not remember the exact details of the request. Nor can I find it again. So if the person that requested that do me a big ol favor and request it again so I can make a proper request of it! Also there will be a part 2 of this over 1000 words just seemed a little too much for a single one shot.

The lights above flickered as I scanned yet another page. The words were blurring together to the point it became almost impossible to read. Just as the final words began to turn into a wiggle of ink, I decided that would be enough reading.

The caseload I was just given was hell. I worked with my connections to find things. People, objects, information, etc. I was the one people went to when something needed to be found. I usually worked with smaller organizations on smaller tasks.
This is why I was relatively surprised when the leader of one of the most famous groups in the city contacted me. The whole ordeal was very hush-hush. To the point, I never actually spoke to anyone. Shocking considering I was being tasked with finding a person.

All I got was a note, a packet of paper, and a hefty sum of cash. With the promise of more later shall results be shown. I was surprised when I first received the note. I had thought it was a setup at first until a tall goat woman showed up at my door about a week later. The lady wasn't a part of the deal but she must have known about it because she came to my door with a butterscotch pie and tears in her eyes.

She had come to thank me for helping them. The missing person was her adoptive child. Well, I suppose the gang's adoptive child. They had searched for a few days before deciding to bring in professional help. I had welcomed her in, her tears drawing way too much attention to my house.

She sat for a while and I asked questions. Some case-related, some personal. If she was technically my partial employer, it would be good to know who I'm working with. We spoke for a few hours before she excused herself. After the conversation, I decided waiting till the next day to continue the case would be stupid. I was already on edge about the less-than-stellar base I was given. I rubbed my hand down my face in an attempt to drag the stress off. The streets were dark and the room was dimly lit as I cataloged all the papers I had into their separate stacks. I didn't have enough information. I had a timeline and a few witness statements that were sent but that was it.

Frisk was the kid's name. I had a sheet dedicated to them. I stared at the kid's face on the paper before grunting and pulling out my phone from my back pocket. Toriel, the goat woman, had given me her number in case I needed anything. I think this was an appropriate time to call. The phone rang a few times before the call was accepted. "Hello?" A motherly voice asked. "Hi," I began letting about a deep sigh, "Uh, this is (Y/n). Ya known the detective your bosses hired?" I asked more than stated. I never really bothered to learn the actual dynamic and hierarchy of the group. I heard a faint gasp and some shuffling before she spoke again.

"Oh, I'm so glad you called! Have you found out where they are?" her voice was filled with hope. I grimaced as I informed her I had not. "I need more information. What I was given was a good start but it's not enough." I filed all the paperwork and put it back into a folder before tossing it on my shelf.

I heard her hum to herself in thought before asking me to give her a moment. There was more shuffling before I heard her begin to speak to another person. "They need more information It's not enough to find them." Another male sigh was heard, "What more could they need. We already gave them most of what we had." The small back and forth continued for a while before I heard Toriel tell the mystery person to talk to me.

An agitated grunt was heard before the other voice spoke, "What do you need." The voice was blunt and harsh yet very laid back. I widen my eyes as a slight surprise overcame me. They were the ones asking for my help. Why did they have an attitude with me?

"The hostilities aren't necessary. I can find the kid without it but if it's on the beach dead that is not going to fall back on me," I would not be talked down to. Especially not when they were the ones that needed the help. The other voice sighed in irritation before grumbling an acceptance. "Now then, I need to meet with you. In-person."

"Not happening." He grumbled, obviously displeased with the thought. I pinched the bridge of my own and let out a huff.

"Listen, this kid could be in grave danger," I say, leaning against my office door, "If you want to find them alive. You'll compromise with me. The information you gave me is just not enough. You gave me the bare minimum and expect me to just perform magic?!"This guy was irritating. How could someone be so dense? The way he was acting made me wonder if he was doing this out of pity.

"What worried you won't live up to your word? The side says you are the best tracker they got. I gave you enough information to figure them out or even get a lead on them. If you're incapable of doing your job we can always find someone else who-"

"Don't you dare try and disprove your lack of information with my skills. Remember you came to me look for help. I lose nothing of permanent importance by dropping or failing this case. You lose a family member. Reputation can be changed, a death, death can't." I was seething at this point. My jacket flung over my shoulders and my bag picked up.

I was four seconds from hanging up the phone and burning the papers. I was not going to let the one who hired me to belittle my skills. The man on the other side of the phone huffed out a large angry sigh. "Fine," there was a slight pause and some shuffling before a defeated voice rang out, "Fine. Someone will get you tomorrow and bring you here." Then the line went dead.

I stared baffled at my phone for a moment. The immaturity was shocking. I furrowed my brows and left my study. I stomped upstairs towards my room. The whole way grumbling words of anger. My headache about ten times worse now, convinced me it was time for bed..

Comes back and goes on a week or break. My bad things caught up to me. On a positive note, I got a cat. His name is Beans and he was found in the middle of the woods like 2 weeks after he was born. There was a lot of vet appointments that kept me busy but now that he is comfortably home I hope to update a little more!  That's all I got now so Good morning, Good Afternoon, or Good night and I'll see you all later!
