Chapter 2: Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

Start from the beginning

I picked the buckets of fish back up off the ground and met Aryan back outside the cell. He closed the door behind me and we began walking down cell by cell. "These dragons appreciate your help more than the other hunters," Aryan broke the silence between us; I looked up to him and groaned "Maybe because I don't hurt them like they do that's why they know they can trust me," Aryan nodded leading me into my favourite cell, he leaned down and whispered in my ear "I'll give you extra time with him just don't tell Viggo or Ryker okay," I gave him a genuine smile as I entered the cell. The siren the Night Fury would make when he was ready to fire scared most of the men to death but not me "Hey, Toothless, it's me don't shoot," his green slits diluted as he laid his eyes upon me "Hey bud how you doing?" he ran against me knocking me to the ground licking my face the best he could, I let out a small chuckle as I sat up and chucked him fish after fish. Once I was all out I sat there and smiled at him. As I sat there he was the definition of home for me, he was loving and respectful. I pulled my legs up to me and wrapped my arms around them and that's when Toothless noticed.

He sauntered over to me and nudged the manacles around that lay around my wrists until he looked at the depressed look in my eye "I'm okay bud, honestly," he gave me one last lick on my face as Aryan called me out of the cell "See you later bud," I hugged him tightly before pushing myself off the ground and out of the cell. I looked behind me as Aryan shut the cell closed, Toothless cooed at me as Aryan pushed me forward towards Viggo and Ryker once again. "Did he earn his keep?" Ryker growled at me as Aryan pushed me towards Viggo; I tilted my head away as he unshackled the manacles around my wrists but made sure his hand stayed on my shoulder keeping me in place; I twitched slightly trying to move but his grip tightened upon me "Yes he did Ryker and if that is all I shall be going," Aryan nodded slightly at before he walked back down the tunnel leaving me back with Viggo and Ryker. Then I felt de ja vu take over as two guards walked me back up the tower with Viggo and Ryker at my lead. The keys were latched into the door and my weigh was thrust back inside the room; I tripped over the floor repeatedly before regaining my balance. "Ryker can you leave us alone for a second please," I felt my nerves vibrate through me like a hurricane as the door slammed behind Viggo leaving it to me and him in the room.

"We need to talk Hiccup," his tone was soft and so formal something I recognised all too well and I knew what was going to happen...or at least what might happen. He stepped slowly towards me linking his fingers with each other and I could feel my heart racing with fear as it exploded in my chest. "I've done everything that you have asked," I choked on my own words as he came closer towards me as I started to move backwards. The more that he stepped forward the more I would move backwards until my hands touched the ice wall behind me indicating I was trapped more than I was before. "Yes you have but it's what you are doing beyond what I have asked," I shook my head and looked down before looking back up at him "I don't know what you're-," but cut me off by grabbing the top of my hair and forcing me up against the wall; his hand forced into my shoulder while his other tightened on my hair, he slammed my head against the wall as I tilted my head down as his face reached my own, his breath on my skin "If you think you'll make an escape plan with that Night Fury, you'll be paying with your life including that Night Fury, now do you understand me."

I kept my head down and spoke nothing nor meet his gaze "Answer me!" his voice rose and echoed lifting my head as he did so "Yes Viggo, I...I understand," his grip loosened on me as he nodded, he waltzed over to the door knocking ready for it to be released; he stepped out so gracefully before turning back to see the shaken figure standing in the corner of the room "I'll be back later with your earnings," and the door slammed leaving me again alone in the misery. I fell to the ground immediately pulling my legs up to my chest hugging them tightly burying my head into them without a single motion of regret. I never understood how I came to this place but I knew that I didn't want to stay. The only excitement, in their words, I could find in this place was the gazing outside of the bars of the small window that lay metres above me which needed my help to pull myself up. But even then when I would look out the window and peer down to see what I could in the outside world and all that would be is the hurt of dragons that deserve better than what they get. This place was...is my hell and I feared there is nothing I can do about it. I lifted my head out from my knees and wiped away the tears that stained my eyes; I pushed my weight up off the ground and walked over to the window only to see what I just explained.

It pained me every time I watched, every day I watch because I always feel the ray of hope that maybe, just maybe, I could see something different, but I'm always wrong. As I turn away I second glance to reach my hand outside the window, I reached for what I saw and pulled with everything I had, it was stuck and I couldn't pull it and the more I tried the more my hand would slip. That's when I heard the footsteps coming so I pulled harder and harder until the nail finally released from the wall holding the bars together. Immediately I pulled my hand back through the bars and ran towards the bed and sat there with the nail clutched within my hand just as the door opened with Viggo's entrance. He came through so fluently with the plate of scrub in his hands, his movements came towards me making me flinch ever so slightly "No need to act like that Hiccup," his voice so calm and precise make me feel even more uneasy with myself. Viggo placed the food next to me on the bed before looking me directly in the eye, he scanned me down before his eyes locked back onto me and all I could focus on was how heavy my breathing became "Your never this nervous?" he questioned his statement more than he inquired it. So immediately I strike with the nail in my hand as I thrash it across Viggo's face and pushed him to the ground as he cried out in pain clutching his face.

I made my move and ran out the door before his free hand could reach me. I sprinted down the set of stairs of the tower and ran towards the first exit I could find finally hearing the release of the alarm ring and the sound of men on the hunt. My first exit led me out into the light, my hand raised in front of my face as I felt blinded by the light, I blinked multiple times before my eyes finally adjusted to the light and I could see men zooming in my direction hinting the indication for me to start running once more. I ran and ran until I found myself running through the dragon's cages that's when I knew exactly where I should be going. I sprinted down the cages until I could see Toothless, and he saw me too. His eyes diluted once he saw me and he shared his gummy smile, I felt a burst of energy run through me when I saw him because I knew this was my chance. I ran towards his cage "It's okay, we're gonna get out of here bud alright," he ran over towards the bars giving me a quick lick before I felt these tight hands clasp around my neck and throw me to the ground, they craned their foot down on my chest holding me in place as they stared me down. "You aren't going anywhere," the voice of Ryker scarred me as I knew how ruthless he was.

He grabbed me by thebagginess of the tunic they made me wear and dragged me away Toothless's cage.I struggled and cried his name as Ryker dragged me away; his strength had morepower than I could fight against but I never stopped trying to get away. But assoon as Toothless was out of eye shot I lost all hope. My weight was dragged toViggo's room where he worked, his books pile after pile and his scrolls thrownafter scroll, weapon arranged after weapon, it strikes me with fear. I wasthrown against the ground as Ryker held my head back with the blade of hissword against my neck as Viggo paced until he stood right in front of me, abandage covering his eye. His stare still struck me with fear because he stillwore the icy touch. "I told you what would happen if you tried to run from me."
