Three: Crashed and Open

Rosa sniffled, “You don't belong with him, Julia!”

“What gives you the right to say who I do and don't belong with!?” The window behind me smashed, causing everyone beside me to duck. “You knew his intentions all along and you made me think him and Loup were monsters!”

Rosa shook her head, “Our kind and their's don't mix!” I waved my hand toward her and she fell backwards into the wall.

“But you knew that they were trying to protect me!” I screamed. She got up again but I flung her against the wall and held her there.

Someone grabbed my waist, tight causing the air in me to escape. They pinned my arms down, but that didn't stop the windows from smashing or the house begin to shake.

“Julia, stop, calm down.” Derek said, grunting against my force.

“Let me go!” I growled. The anger in me was flowing, flooding those around me. It was all the emotions I had suppressed freeing themselves with great liberation.

“Calm down!” He thrashed me on a chair, pinning my arms down while Donny held my legs.

“Let me go!” I said again, looking at Rosa who was limping toward me. “Come any closer and I'll rip your head off!” I yelled at her causing her to crumple in Kyle's arm.

Derek brushed my hair away, “This isn't like you, Julia.” He whispered.

“Oh, what do you know about me?” I glared.

“Julia,” Jonathan said from behind Derek's massive shoulders. “this isn't like you. Calm down.” He said softly, gently.

I lowered my head, “I didn't want this.” I said, breathing nice and slow, the tension in my body was gone.

Derek and Donny let go of me, while I sat in the chair, lonely and cold. Jonathan placed his hand over mine, tucking my hair under my ear.

“I know, Julia.” He said against the arm chair. He was kneeling beside me, his head lowered, and our hands clasped together.

I placed my other hand in his hair and ignored everyone else in the room.

“Rosa, did you know that they were protecting Julia?” Donny asked, a little out of breath. My power had drained him.

“Yes, I did, but -” She started crying.

I looked up, “I'm sorry, Rosa, for hurting you.” I said with no tone of forgiveness.

“It's okay, Julia.” she whimpered.

“Is that it, then?” Derek asked, anger in his voice. “Are they okay now?”

Donny looked at Loup and at Jonathan and me, “Yes, they were trying to protect family.” he looked at Loup. “She said you were captured.”

Loup nodded, “We escaped, but there's no telling if they'll find us or not. If you need to confirm it I'll willingly let Rosa check.” Loup was always honorable.

Derek nodded, “I think we should, just to be sure.” I knew he was only doing this because of his hatred; or at least I hoped so.

“Rosa.” Donny called.

“It's not necessary, it's the truth!” I begged.

I looked at Loup who smiled at me; which reminded me of the man I met that first day on the bleachers; cool and captivated. He kept looking at me, even when Rosa sat next to him and removed her glove. Jonathan watched with a grimace and glaring at Rosa.

His expression became tightened but his eyes stayed the same if a little forced. She immediately let go of him and nodded.

“He's telling the truth. He didn't tell them anything.” she seemed a little stunned by it.

Loup looked away from her, “Does she know everything?” he asked me.

I nodded, “Not unless she was looking for something specific.”

“Were you?” Loup asked.

She nodded, “I was.”

“Why? Are you trying to hide something?” Derek demanded, glaring down at him.

“I have a past that I want to keep private, memories that I prefer” he looked at me. “were kept to myself.” He said calmly.

“Leave him alone.” I said. Derek groaned slightly and moved to Kyle.

Loup stood, “We should go.” Jonathan squeezed my hand closer. “The farther away we are from here the safer you will be.”

Donny shook his head, “No, you both will be safe here. My family is indebted to you.” He said.

“We shouldn't -” Loup began.

“Loup,” I said with begging eyes, “don't go.”

He looked at me for a large amount of time, “I'll stay as long as I can.”
