I nodded and put the bracelet in my pocket. “Fine, but I'm coming back.” I kissed her forehead. “Happy birthday, Julia.” I punched her arm, which made her smile.
I walked away and glared at Loup who ignored me, “Let's go, huh?”
Loup bowed his head slightly, “Happy Birthday to you, Julia.”
“Thank you.” Julia said, tears sliding down her cheeks and her soft buxom lips quivering.
Before I could convince myself not to and regain the brain cells I lost when I saw her, I wrapped my arms around Julia. All I wanted was for her to stop crying; that's it. Maybe it would make her cry more, or maybe it would make her feel just a little better.
But the hug ended too quickly by outside forces.
Julia:I remember this embrace; I remember his warm body and his salty smell. I remembered in an instant why I love him, why I care for him. It was easy; the answer was completely easy when I was around him.
Of course, northing's easy when it comes to me.
“Julia, is that you? Who is that?” Donny's voice came curiously from behind me.
I lifted my head and whispered, “Go!.” I pushed Jonathan away.
But it was already too late.
My Uncle Donny was already near me, grabbing for my arm, “Julia, who is – Julia, get over here.” He pulled me out into the moonlight where Kyle, George, Rosa, and Derek were. They all stared at me with laughing smiles, but stopped when they saw Donny's face.
“You stay away from my niece!” Donny boomed; pulling me behind him.
Derek placed his hands around my cheek, checking my face and body if any harm was given to me, “Are you alright?”
“I'm fine, it's just -” I looked back at Donny who stared at Jonathan and Loup whose figures could be seen in the forest.
“What are they, Donny?” Derek asked handing me to Rosa with a fierce face.
Rosa grabbed me with her black lace gloves, her other hand caressing my hair. Her bright blue eyes were darting between Derek and Donny.
“Werewolves.” Donny sneered, fire appeared in his hands.
Derek smiled, “Awesome.” Derek's rough hands became fists.
“Wait!” I pulled on Rosa's arm.
“Julia, don't.” She said, gripping tighter.
I desperately bit her hand; adrenaline in my veins and heart. While Rosa held her hand in shock I ran in front of Donny's raised hands, the fire licking at my face.
Loup and Jonathan were already standing away from the forest, the moonlight on their growling faces.
“Don't, please!” I said; panting and bending my neck away from the drubbing fire.
Derek immediately lowered Donny's arm, “Daniel, stop.” He looked to me and spoke carefully, “Julie, come on, why are you doing this?”
“Jonathon? Loup?” Kyle said, his eyes becoming wide with wrath. “What the hell are you doing here?” He demanded.
Derek looked at them, pure detest in his eyes, “Julia, get out of my way.”
“No, Derek. They're okay, they are!” I said; backing up and placing my arms in front of Loup and Jonathon.
“What are you doing, Julia?” Jonathan whispered; familiar eyes darting from me to them.
“They're monsters!” Donny said with disgust. “They're not your friends, they're just filthy dogs.”
