Charlotte Hatton and Kol Mikaelson had a romance in the early twentieth century. It moved fast, burned bright and faded out fast. When they made an elaborate plan to run away together, Charlotte is left stranded at the train station with a break up letter and the pieces of her shattered heart surrounding her. And, per usual, Klaus Mikaelson used his impeccable timing skills to enter the scene and then proceeded to compel the broken hearted teenager to kill herself.

Moving forward, she didn't die. Somehow, the girl survived and transitioned into a vampire, exactly the same kind of creature her old love was. Following what she saw him do, she ravaged the cities, painting nearby towns red with blood as she learned to thrive in the lifestyle of a vampire. Maybe she was also considerably bitter about how Kol had ended things with her too. The only productive way to go about her rage was to release her wrath on innocent people, naturally. Until certain people had enough of her behaviour — in Rebekah's opinion, she was being selfish by keeping all the decent blood types to herself. With that, the Original compelled away the girl's memories of her brother and their short-lived romance, hoping that will calm Charlotte's wild ways. It did alright and it also turned her a tad insane.

Since Rebekah Mikaelson compelled away her memories of Kol, Charlotte had the memories try to resurface. Nothing as delicate as a memory can be tampered with, all it takes it one little trigger to result in them springing back into place. For example, if Kol were to return, that would do the trick. But when he does return, he is shocked to see his old flame is incredibly hostile towards him and is going to great lengths to help her friends murder him and his family. And he didn't have a clue what he did to deserve that reaction.

Two separate hearts, one frozen in time and repeatedly daggered by his brother, the other withered and shrew, falling a victim to time. They come together a century after they first met and the dynamic has changed between them, times had changed, but had their feelings?

HERE'S TO THE HEARTBREAKERS AND THE HEARTBROKEN, MAY YOU NEVER MEET AGAIN

2021 NOTE: Before reading ahead, I want to make sure everyone knows I wrote the original draft of this book when I was 13 and briefly edited it when I was 15. It's not perfect and there are mistakes. That being said, I know people do enjoy it and I will be keeping posted on my profile in its current form. Read ahead at your own risk. I no longer check the comments on this series and it has been discontinued — two books are complete, third is unfinished — because Nate Buzolic is frankly a horrible person. If you have any pressing questions about the book, feel free to message me.
