This was my first time wattpad story. I was nervous writing it and tried to put myself out there. This was written a while ago. Before I really understood meremaids/mereman. I am not sure if I would rewrite this or not.

Day 01
A song flows on the wind. The rhythmic tone has him yearning for more. This is the first time he's dared come close to landfall just to listen to her. He may never walk on land. He may never see her. Yet the yearning is becoming unbearable. He suppresses the urge to swim toward the dock hiding behind a large rock. It is not safe for him to show himself. It is not safe to be this close to land. A splash behind him, jolts him out of his stupor.
An octopus glares at him, spear on it's back. It crosses it's arms. The prince has been caught once again, his heart yearning for the human world. Where his scales could be collected and sold. Where he could be trapped for years in one of their laboratories. He's heard the stories but the voice, it removes all fear from him.
He should have found his mate, his underwater call. As the youngest of seven, he has yet to find the Merwoman who calls to him. He's overlooked a great many beautiful and talented ladies just to listen to the rhythmic sound of the beauty with legs. To the disapproval of his father.
He yearns to meet the singing stranger.
He yearns to walk on land.
He yearns to ignore his own short comings.
It is not the human world that draws him in. It's the voice of a fisher's daughter who always sings so sadly while going about her work.
Prince Tritan follows the octopus to the caves in the deep ocean. His father ready to reprimand his actions. He doesn't not fear retribution. He will keep yearning for her all the days of his life. He as even suggested that she may be the mate he desires but his father will hear none of it.
He will soon be forced to marry another.
Day 02
A guard patrol his room, his window and the secret exit. He can not leave. He tries to pass the time sleeping, refusing to eat, the voice of the woman haunting his dreams. He must reach her. He must find her. He must know who she is.
Around noon the guard shifts. Tritan takes this moment to fight back. Knowing full well this time he will be branded a traitor but he doesn't care. He must find the woman with the voice. The one that calls to him. He swims away from the kingdom toward the shore. Unaware of the Nature's Fury above.
