BONUS CHAPTER ONE

[JADE'S POV]

"Ate, san ka punta at bakit ka naka-sweater and boots? Ano to?! Ang init init dito!" Mu sister whines.

"Punta ako ng Chicago." I answered.

"Bakit?!?"

"Dun na daw muna titira si Russell sabi nila Joao. Ayaw ko na umalis siya kaya pupunta nalang ako dun."

"Bakit nga?"

"Wala naman akong buhay dito eh. Wala tayong magulang. Dito lang tayo tumitira sa bahay ng kaibigan ko."

"Ok. Mag-ingat ka ate." She came in and gave me a hug.

"Take care of yourself." I tell her and kissed the top of her head.

Nasa airport na ko. Waiting for my plane,

Flight 37254 bound to Chicago, Illinois is now boarding. Please proceed to gate number 8.

Ito na! Ok, relax ka lang. Wala pa naman siya dun so, wait! Paano ko ieexplain sa parents niya?!

"Miss?" A voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Y-yes?"

"Board na po kayo."

God! So embarrassing! 🙊

Nakapasok na ako ng airplane and drifted to sleep.

Chicago, Illinois

"Next!" The lady in the immigration department called.

I was about to hand my passport,

"Mama."

I felt a tear escaped from my eye. I haven't seen her in....... 15 years.

She stamped my passport,

"Next."

Aba naman! Grabe na to! Parang hindi naman ako kilala! Akala mo ako yung nangiwan sa kanya.

I got out of the airport still shocked na nakita ko si mama.

"Jade? Jade, anak!" Tita Linda called me from behind.

"Tita Linda!" I turned and hugged her.

"So, tuloy plano natin diba?" She asked.

Plano namin isurprise si Russell pagdating niya bukas.

Ganda naman dito sa Chicago! Why not, I could live here.... wait, what? I only came here to surprise Russell not to live here.

"Bahay nyo po to?" I ask as Tita Linda stopped the car.

"Oo. Dito lumaki si Russell. That was his house since birth."

We got out of the car and went in the house.

"Lamig dito!" I said as i removed my coat.

"Nga eh. Kaka-melt lang ng snow kaya medyo malamig pa dito." Tita Linda said while opening the heater.

"Iha, you can sleep in Russell's room muna. We haven't fixed the guest room yet eh." Tita Linda continues while taking me up stairs to Russell's room.

She opened the door and,

"Ang linis." I whispered.

"I'll be down stairs if you need anything." Tita Linda closed the door.

I look around, his desk, his closet. Ang dami naman ng damit niya akala ko ang konti lang, tingnan nyo naman, palagi lagi na nya ginagamit yung mga damit niya!

Ang cute ng mga pictures niya! Kakagigil!!!!

I sat on the bed, wow! Ang lambot!!!!!

"Sana ganto yung kama ko sa Pinas! Ganto ka lambot!" I whisper to myself.

"Jade, kain na tayo." Tita Linda knocked on my door.

Ang galing ko! I haven't unpacked yet.

I got up and went over to Russell's closet and grabbed the nearest sweatshirt and wore it then got out of his room.

*sniffs* ang bangooooooo ng fooooooddddddd! *sniffs again* sinigang? I am not Russell! Pero ok na.

"Ang bango naman nito!" A voice came from the dining room. Si Tito Reggie ata yun?

"Sayang wala pa si Russell. Favorite niya to eh." Another voice said. Kuya Ralph?

"Good evening po." I said as I came in the dining room.

"Jade, right? Crush ni Russell?" Kuya Ralph said.

WAIT?!? WHAT?! Ako? Crush ni Russell?

"Um? Hello?" He snapped me out my thoughts. I have that habit.

"Yeah, I'm Jade. And you said na may crush saakin si Russell?"

"Oo. I think. He said he had a crush on someone named Jade-"

"Ralph! Tumahimik ka nga!" Binatukan ni Tito Reggie si Kuya Ralph.

"What?"

His parents gave him the dont-tell-her-your-brothers-secret look.

"Oh ok."

I went back to my room after eating dinner and all we talked about was Russell.

They ask me about us, about him and boys. Like

"Kayo na ba?"

About that question, ha, hindi ko PA alam.
