It was freezing cold, the wind blew Peridot around like she was a piece of paper. Peridot got to Connie's house, hopefully she was here since there was a storm coming up. Peridot knocked on the door and within second the door opened.
"Peridot? What on Earth are you doing out here?" Connie's Mom shouted. She literally dragged Peridot inside the house. "You could've cracked your gem!"
"Don't worry, me and my gem are fine," Peridot said. "Where is Connie?"
"Oh, she's upstairs studying for a big test! Most likely school will be closed tomorrow because of this storm, but just in case," her mom finally finished.
"Do you think she has time to see me?" Peridot asked. "It's something about... a mission."
"Oh don't tell me Pearl wants her now!" Her Mom snapped. "I feel like she thinks Connie has no social life!"
"No it's not because of Pearl," I said. I took out the dagger and lied. "This is a dagger from the... Great Black Diamond. There is no place to put it in the temple. If black Diamond find this she'll kill us. But she won't find it in the hands of a human being."
"Are you sure that's safe?" Her Mom asked.
"Yes! Black Diamond can't see humans so she can't hurt Connie!" Peridot said. Peridot knew Black Diamond was long gone, she died many years after Black Pearl did. Even though Black Diamond was the most powerful gem in the galaxy, she was gone. Black Pearl kept Black Diamond 'hostage' after Black Pearl realized Black Diamond was going to shatter her for a new pearl. So for many years, Black Pearl has treated Black Diamond like she was a pearl. Peridot lost her train in thought and looked up at Connie's mom.
"Well, I guess so. And for how long will she have this... dagger?" her mom asked.
"Just for a few days. I'll come back Tuesday for the dagger," Peridot said. Then she walked to the stairs, and up to Connie's room. Peridot's heart was pounding. Even though Peridot knew she was going to do something she wished she didn't want to, this was the only way to get rid of Connie.
Peridot reached Connie's door and stopped her hand from turning the door handle.
"I'm so happy you could make it," Connie's voice came from behind the door.
"Me too babe," another voice said, a male one. And Peridot knew it wasn't Steven's voice. "So, when are you going to turn Steven down? I'm kind of getting sick of seeing you two together."
Peridot leaned her ear against the door.
Connie sighed. "I will, I just need to get the gems to trust me even more! Stuff like this takes time. I already got the future mirror from Yellow Pearl and Blue Pearl. The future looks great for us. Now, all I have to do is get Pink Pearl's gem."
Peridot leaned back and took a deep breath. Now she couldn't kill Connie with this witness in the way. Peridot slowly creaked the door open and looked inside. She never would've thought who Connie's other boyfriend was.
"That is so... GROSS!" Yellow Pearl cried. "Why would Connie be dating... HIM!"
Peridot sighed. "I don't know. But now we can rat Connie out and tell Steven," Peridot said. "I don't want Steven hanging out with a cheater like Connie."
"Well I guess it's the right thing to do," Yellow Pearl said. "Fine, but do you have proof? You need proof just in case Steven doesn't believe you."
"I wanted to know if I could use your device you always carry around," Peridot said. "Isn't it like a camera? But it can show any place you want?"
"Yes," Yellow Pearl said. "That's exactly what it does. But it's also very valuable. I can't get a new one if it breaks, they're only in Homeworld!"
"What- please Yellow Pearl! I won't break it, I've held major devices before... back on Homeworld... but I won't destroy it!"Peridot said.
"I'm sorry Peridot, but I can't just hand over this device!" Yellow Pearl snapped.
Peridot sighed and wished Yellow Pearl just stayed back in Home world instead of joining them. Somehow, Peridot had to steal Yellow Pearl's machine.
It was around 3:00am when Peridot left the barn and to the temple. Yellow Pearl and Blue Pearl were both given rooms, the rooms like the Crystal Gems have. Peridot ran to the door and went into Garnet's room first. Peridot knew she couldn't just walk into Yellow Pearl's room, she had to slid down the temple heart and get to it that way.
Peridot went to the heart and slid down a tube. She went past Blue Pearl's room, which was much like home world but much peaceful, and then down to Yellow Pearl's room. The room looked like a nerd lap. Wires sprung from the walls, tiny yellow stares hung from the top, and a pile of weapons in one corner.
Peridot walked around Yellow Pearl's room, it was defiantly the smallest room. She looked around for Yellow Pearl, hoping she wouldn't be in here. Peridot pushed the pile of weapons over and jackpot. The machine was right there. Peridot picked it up, it almost looked like a drone.
It flew around on Peridot's command. "Okay... flying thing... go to Connie's house and show me Connie!" Peridot ordered.
Within second the drone flew off and out of Yellow Pearl's room. Peridot laughed and headed to leave, but she heard Yellow Pearl's voice. Peridot screeched and ran into the pile of weapons and ducked behind it, accidentally cutting herself.
"We should call Moonstone," Yellow Pearl said. "She's not fully corrupted yet."
Blue Pearl walked into the room. "We aren't sure if she's on our side."
Yellow Pearl sighed and rolled her eyes. "What other choice so we have? Your Diamond doesn't even want to look at Earth anymore! She will never join The Crystal Gems. Moonstone can help us with that-" but Blue interrupted Yellow.
"Even though my Diamond hates me, I still respect her..." blue said.
"Even when she almost shattered you on Pearl replacement day?" Yellow asked. "I can't even say m- mmmm- mmmmmmy Diamond without being filled with rage!"
"Your Diamond basically brought you to life," blue said.
Yellow shook her head. "Either way I'm calling Moonstone.
Blue hissed and headed for the exit, but she turned around before she did. "If we get in trouble, I'm leaving you."
Peridot escaped the room and headed back to the barn.
"Peridot?" Lapis called from the top of the barn. "Where did you go?"
Peridot sighed and tossed on the floor on her side of the barn. "Just at the temple," Peridot waited and waited for the drone to come back to her. Eventually it did.
It came at 7:45am, and Lapis was the one to notice it first.
"There's a tiny flying thing coming our way," Lapis said.
"It's a drone," peridot said. "It took pictures of Connie!"
"Why would you want pictures of Connie?" Lapis asked.
"Because she's cheating on Steven with-" but the drone landed right next to Peridot's feet. Peridot picked it up and placed it inside the barn. "I'm going to eat Connie out, and if Steven doesn't believe me, I'll have evidence."
Lapis sighed as Peridot fiddled with the machine. When a photo popped up of Connie, Lapis gasped. "She's cheating on Steven with Sour Cream?!"
"Yup. Their ages are very... long apart... this is obviously not an appropriate relationship for Earth beings," Peridot said.
"I just... Sour Cream..." Lapis drifted off.
"Yes, sour cream," Peridot said and picked up the drone. "Do you wanna come?"
Lapis stiffened. "I think... I'll stay here..."
Peridot ran to the temple, thick snow covered Beach City, making it hard for Peridot to walk through. Soon Peridot got to the temple, but when she did, Connie was there with Steven.
They were laughing about swords or something. Peridot approached Steven as calmly as she could. "Steven... can I talk to you in private?"
"Uh, sure Peridot," Steven said.
Peridot lead him to the ocean, making sure Connie was out of earshot. "There's something I need to tell you about Connie," Peridot wasted no time. When Connie was gone, Steven would fall for Peridot. Her plan, that's all Peridot wanted.
"What about her? She's perfect right?" Steven said.
Peridot sighed. She suddenly felt a lump in her throat, she felt... guilty. All this time she wanted to eat Connie out, but now Peridot has realized how happy Steven is with Connie. And Connie did say she was going to dump Steven anyway... so until that time comes Peridot will have to be patient. Peridot took a deep breath, all she said was,
"Tomorrow is your and Connie's 4th year anniversary..."
"Yeah I know! I was thinking of buying her her favorite gem necklace, a Peridot," Steven said.
Peridot's eyes widened. "Her favorite gem..."
Steven laughed. "Well, yeah. She loves Peridot's.
Peridot felt her face blush, and she looked away. "Tell her I said thank you," Peridot said and walked away, with sorrow filling her heart.
