author's note
just as a reminder: [E] is before dialogue in English and the rest will be in Korean! (l/n) is for your last name and (y/n) is for your first name! Enjoy! I'm also sorry if there are any inaccuracies with the Korean school system, as I do not know much about schooling in Korea so I am basing this a little bit off of the education in Japan. also I know Mark is fluent in English but you'll understand as the story goes on!

(y/n)'s POV:
I sighed as I collapsed on my bed. I can't believe I somehow became an English tutor! Sure, I was fluent in English and therefore got the best grades in the class. But I had no idea how to socialize with or help, let alone teach any of my peers. I reluctantly turned to the side, checking the time. I literally got home just to put away some things and leave again, I had some boy to tutor already. I quickly changed out of my school uniform into more comfortable, casual clothes before grabbing my backpack and heading out. I curiously read the note my teacher gave me as I walked over to the library. I released another sigh, the name Mark Tuan did not seem familiar to me at all. Who was he?

When I reached the library, I unfortunately realized I had no idea where to go inside or who I was looking for. This was just great, I gave an annoyed sigh and reread the letter. It had nothing really helpful to me. I frustratedly ran a hand through my hair, what am I supposed to do now? Before I could decide where to go, I felt a little tap on my shoulder.

"E-Excuse me!" I turned to see a boy, around my age, bowing. "Are y-you (l/n) (y/n)?"
"Y-Yes!" I responded, quickly bowing as well. "Are you Mark?"
"Yes!" He stood up straight, smiling at me. A light blush forming on my face as I noticed how handsome he is. He looked perfect, everything about him. His simple outfit and dirty blonde hair went perfect together. I couldn't help but stare a little bit.
"Alright, cool." I smiled back before looking around at the rest of the library. "Let's get started then."

We walked to an empty nearby table and quickly sat across from each other. I couldn't help but blush when I looked at him, he was so handsome and cute! I gently shook my head as I grabbed some papers and two pencils from my backpack, handing some of the supplies over to him. I needed to pay attention.

"By the way," I asked while staring down at the paper, really having no idea on how to tutor someone. "what class are you in? I don't think I've seen you before."
"Oh, I'm in 2-E." He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "And you?"
"2-B." I smiled, "So we are in the same year, just different classes." He nodded while smiling before I continued, "Also sorry I have never tutored anyone before or anything, so I'm not really sure what to do." We both laughed a bit.
"It's fine." Mark smiled, now looking down at the blank piece of paper. "I just can't get any more bad grades!"
"Hey! Stay positive!" I giggled a bit, trying to keep him happy, "I'm sure you don't really get bad grades. You'll be fine."

He mumbled a slight response, most likely a sarcastic "sure," before I told him to write both what he struggled with most and what he didn't have many problems with on the paper. After I got the paper from him, I couldn't help but giggle as I read his writing. His name at the top was in Korean, written quite nicely, but everything else reminded me of a five year old who was just learning how to write. He looked at me confused as I giggled while looking at his paper. At least he labelled it, although he only considered one thing as a strength, the alphabet. Literally everything else in the English language was put under the issue column. From sentence structure to pronunciation, anything that Mark could think of was put in the issue column, in his five year old handwriting.

"W-What?" He looked at me both embarrassed and confused. "Did I do something wrong?"
"No. It's just..." I spoke between giggles and turned the paper for him to see. "Your handwriting is so adorable!" I saw him blushing as I kept giggling, "And give yourself more credit, I'm sure you know more than just the alphabet."
"Don't set your hopes too high." He spoke while slightly covering his blush with the sleeves of his slightly oversized sweater. "I'm really horrible."
"Surely it's not that bad, right?" I curiously looked at him, he couldn't really that bad at learning. "I bet you can understand things." He violently shook his head in response.
"I don't know." He muttered, clearly embarrassed.
"Then how about speaking after me?" I smiled at him. "Be positive, I'm sure you aren't as bad as you think." I pointed at the paper he just gave me, "You spelled most of these words right!"
"I guess we can try." His voice was now almost a whisper, "Please don't laugh at me."

I smiled and nodded at him, he really was so cute! I really had no idea how much English Mark actually knew, so we started with "Hello." I smiled as I said the word, hoping to keep him positive but also trying my hardest not to laugh. There's no way that his English was so bad that he couldn't pronounce a simple greeting, right? I waited a few seconds after I said the word but heard no response from the cute boy. I looked over to him, why wasn't he repeating what I said? He quickly noticed my confused glare and bowed his head down to stare at the paper in front of him, avoiding me.

"S-Sorry." He mumbled, clearly nervous and embarrassed.
"Oh, come on Mark!" I tried my best to keep the anxious boy positive, "You can do it!"
"I don't think so..." He trailed off, staring at his hands.
"Don't you want better English grades?" He only pouted as I continued, "You need to speak and with practice it won't be hard! Just after me, hell-o!"
"But I don't want you to laugh at me." He blushed, "I have a horrible accent, it's embarrassing."
'Well then how do you expect to get better?" I quickly responded.
"I don't know..." He embarrassingly mumbled. "I just don't want you to laugh at me."
"Well then..." I trailed off, trying to think of any other way to help him. "How about an English immersion? Have you ever tried that?" He shook his head again before I continued, "Okay, then we can try that instead. I'll only speak to you in English from now on and I'll put you in situations where you'll just have to try and do what I say."
"B-But what if I don't understand you?" He pouted causing my heart to melt. How could someone be so cute and handsome?
[E] "Too bad." I stood up, deciding I'd test if he could understand any situations. "Now let's go."
"What?" He nervously responded, confused as to why I was starting to pack up my things. I sighed as I saw him pout at me. "W-What are you-?"
[E] "Man, you're so cute." I mumbled, now knowing he wouldn't really understand me. "Now I'm hungry, let's go and eat." I explained as I started to walk away. I turned back, wanting to giggle as he just stared at me confused. I walked back to him, "Follow me." I grabbed his wrist, pulling him up in hopes that he'd understand I'm not just leaving him.
"Where are we going?" He asked after packing up his things.
[E] "To eat!" I exclaimed, hoping he was understanding some things. "What do you want to eat?"
"We are going to..." He paused, trying to think of what I was saying. "Eat? Together?"
[E] "Yes!" I clapped and nodded, he was understanding things! I smiled, "Good job! Where do you want to go?"
"Where do I want to eat?" He looked at me, "That's what you asked, right?" He waited for me to nod in response before continuing, "Anywhere I guess."
[E] "Alright, let's go!" I exclaimed before grabbing his hand and walking out of the library.

Like a little lost puppy, Mark trailed alongside me down the streets. I giggled as his smile quickly turned into a frown when he saw the cafe in front of us. It was an American-based cafe, nearly everything there was in English. When we walked inside, he clung closer to me, as if he was now surrounded by his worst nightmare. I let go of his hand and pushed him forward towards the counter when the cashier asked us if we were ready to order.

[E] "Hello, what would you like?" The cashier smiled as us as she prepared the machine to take our order. Mark just stood there silent and confused. It took everything not to giggle at his confused face as he desperately tried to understand anything.
[E] "Mark, order what you want." I whispered in his ear before turning to the cashier. "I'll have a small iced mocha and a chocolate chip cookie."
[E] "Okay." The cashier typed things into the machine, "And for your boyfriend?" A bright blush took over my face but before I could correct her, Mark spoke up.
[E] "Just, just the same." Mark quickly pointed at me, "A-As her."
[E] "Okay, will that be all?" The cashier smiled, as I nodded and handed her some money. "The food will be out shortly, just wait by the counter over there!" I finished the transaction as quickly as possible, shoving the receipt and change in my pocket and practically running to the other counter. I couldn't hide the blush on my face so I just stared at the floor, completely embarrassed.
"(y/n)..." Mark curiously asked, lifting my face to make eye contact with me. "What's wrong? What happened? Did I do bad?" I didn't respond and tried to look away from him, but failed as he kept his eyes locked on mine. "Please tell me! I don't know what happened."
[E] "It's nothing..." I trailed off, flustered and nervous. My heart was beating out of my chest. Then out of nowhere, Mark hugged me while loudly laughing.
[E] "Ah~ You're so cute!" He said between laughs. "You know, I'm fluent in English! I just moved here from California." My blush intensified as he spoke, "It was actually harder for me to understand the Korean!" He kept laughing.
[E] "What?" I exclaimed, somehow even more embarrassed than before as I hid my face in my hands and he pulled back from the hug.
[E] "Yeah!" He laughed, "But it's nice to know you think I'm cute." He wrapped his arm around my waist, "Also that the cashier thinks we're a couple." Mark paused, resting his head on my shoulder, "You know, I'd love to go on a real date with you sometime."
