Hold Me - Poem 40

You are my best friend

But you know that.

We sat in the library,

Both showing each other songs, pictures, and quotes that we enjoyed.

Though I got quiet.

You let me find myself at first,

Giving me my space.

I covered my face as my heart started to break.

You looked over at me and you grabbed me by the shoulders

And you pulled me into a hug.

You squeezed me,

And told me that it was going to be okay.

That you would always be there for me.

I tried to pull away

And you pulled me right back.

You told me to look you in the eyes.

I resisted until I gave in.

Our eyes met and you smiled.

My breath caught and I realized how much I needed you to hold me.
