stress fills the blue haired s head, knowing his dad was downstairs waiting for the family to meet up downstairs.
the family that consisted of him and joshua.

when josh's parents split up, josh was left with his father

he didn't know why as he'd had no explanation as to why, and he was only three when it happened, along with being to nervous to ask. his other siblings ended up with his mom who he could barely remember.

nerves were a stupid thing to have right now. but one-on-one conversations were always the worst.

"josh!" his dad yells from downstairs "it's getting cold."

literally forcing himself to get out of bed, joshua makes his way downstairs.

"there you are." his dad beams, beginning to start his food, joshua sitting himself on the chair on the opposite of the dining table.

josh just nods, taking the first cowardly bite out of his burger.

"so... you just gonna say nothing again?"

again, he nods, the older man rolling his eyes.

"i had the broken one." he sighs under his breath.

excuse me?
josh signs, knowing his dad wouldn't understand him.

"stop. i don't know what you're saying." he mocks josh's hand actions.
"anyway, how was school? the head called, saying you'd been doing outstanding work."

josh's eyes light up.
him?
really?
of course, he had good grades in literally everything, but compliments always warmed his racing heart.

"did you go from an D to a C or something?"

his moment was crushed, and he sniffles a little, before biting more into his sandwich.

"no. of course not: you're gay."

josh freezes, shanking his head quickly in disagreement.

no. no he wasn't gay. not straight... yeah, possibly. but gay? not that, either.

"listen, dude. i don't mind. as long as i don't see you two kissing in front of me... that's just gross."

he swallows the lump in his throat.
he just wished his father would bother to learn to sign instead of trying to show josh how stupid he was. did he think he chose to be like this?

because choice would definitely help a lot.

"and i heard you got exams coming up." he continues, josh now becoming quite irritated of the mans voice. "are you revising?"

i've done most of them early.
he signs. it was true: he passed them all already, but was doing them again because he had nothing else to do.

despite being diagnosed with anxiety, his dad still took it as an act, while the school was being exceptionally helpful and understanding.

"i'll take that as a no. i swear to a god i don't believe in, josh:
if you fail, kiss your therapy goodbye, because i'm paying for a tutor instead."

my therapy isn't your chore, not at all. you should be making me better, you're my father. i hate going. it's the worst place on earth. but you know what? i'd never leave. it's more important to me than anything right now. how are you so cold and blind?

his had laughs a little, completely oblivious of josh's comment, picking up his plate before sighing. "i'm going to bed, now. sleep well."

thanks.
