Chapter VII. The Night

Calypso heard anything before she saw anything. The ringing in her ears was thumping loudly, like it had its own heartbeat.  When her eyes pried open she saw the many sandstones. She seemed to feel very aware of every muscle in her body, and how sore they were. Calypso couldn't bring herself to lift her face off the ground, everything was spinning, her head falling in and out of consciousness. She looked at her hands and she tried to find the will to get up

"What in the worlds just happened"She thought, but before she could even push herself she felt something

pain

an unfamiliar pain

Calypso rolled her body over and leaned forward. She looked down at her legs, the dress had been streaked with the red dust that covered most o Pyria, but thats not what she was looking at, she hiked up her dress to reveal her legs. She never liked to look at her bare legs, she covered them constantly with her long brown dress and knee length boots, but with one shoe gone and her dress hiked up she could see them, they were paler than the rest of her body, the were long and sickly thin, but thats not what she was looking at, she looked to her knees, that had been stinging with blood from when she fell, the knees that were now stinging in pain. Her hands fell on her legs and she touched them.

"Oh my..."She gasped, she immediately started feeling her legs, feeling her fingertips fall and glide against her legs, how her skin sung to be touched. Tears fell on her lap as she hungrily grabbed her legs. She could feel her legs, she could feel them, her hand moved to the cut on her knee, she could feel pain, she smiled and cried in wonder. When her hand fell on her wounded her knee, her legs flinched in pain, Calypso's eyes widened. Whatever happened, she felt like she was suddenly so alert, she could feel warm-hot  blood surging through her veins, her legs. She held herself up. She tried to move her foot, and it moved!

Everything felt tense, but it moved. The sensation was uncomfortable but not painful, she moved her foot a bit more and the tense feeling increase but she pushed past it. She moved her foot in a circular motion. She knew this was going to be too much for her, but she had to try. whatever happened to her, she had a feeling it wasn't going to last long. She looked to her wheelchair, which looked charred to black, her eyes widened

"It's seven we should get there before the thundersurges start at nine"

Cordelia was right.

'was thats even possible?' Calypso thought.

She then deducted that if she was just struck by lighting then yes it was a possibility, in fact a reality.  She braced herself for what was going to be an extremely uncomfortable moment, but it was for the best. She jolted her knees to her chest, she winched in a pain she fairly recognized. She stretched out her legs, quickly. If what Cordelia said was right, then it was already nine, and the Court Of Lux would be filled with people, ready to here they're names. She moved her legs until they felt comfortable to move, She wished she still had the legs muscle she had nine years ago, but her legs while they could move, they were weak, extremely weak, she could barely bring herself to stand, she wobbled to her feet and she grinned, she wishes she could just run without any help, but that was going to be easier said than done. She wobbled behind her wheelchair and squeezed her hands around the hand grip. Holding her weight on the wheelchair she reached down grabbed her bag that thankfully wasn't charred as the chair, she opened it to find that the contents were unscathed. She sat back in her wheelchair, even though she wanted to run and walk the rest of the way, her legs were weak and she could get there much quicker in her wheelchair, her arms were strength, and her legs...they were a work in progress, she began wheeling herself feeling her legs slowly but progressively become more in tune with her, moving somewhat naturally. When she reached the Court Of Lux  she saw it in all its magnificence. There are six tall pillars that form a protective barrier all around the castle and are connected by lower, wide walls made of a granite. The large double-glazed windows are scattered generously across the wide walls in an asymmetric pattern, along with holes of various sizes for archers and artillery. At the center of the granite wall stands a great gate that is still open. Calypso moves to get inside, but as she gets closer she hears someone yell
