Faye's POV

I gulp at the gravity in my uncle's voice. Did I do something wrong?

"Faye... do you trust your teammates?" was the first thing he says after a stare-off that lasted a few minutes. The question startles me. "W-Wha? Why do you ask?" He moves forward in his chair and rests his hands on the headmaster's desk. "'Cause if you don't, there really isn't a point in putting you in a team. Kid, if this is gonna work, you've gotta put your all into it and trust them with your life. You're gonna have to trust them with your secrets too."

I quickly catch on to what he's implying and look down in hesitation. "I do trust them. It's just," she says, shrugging like it was a casual matter, "even some of my family don't know. Why should they?"

"The reason as to why you're not telling your sisters is 'cause you're protecting them. There's no helping it. But your team, well, why shouldn't you tell 'em?" Qrow points out. I bite my lip and scrunch my eyebrows in thought before sighing in agreement, "You're right. I'll tell them."

---

I pace back and forth in the room as I await the return of my team. They informed me that they were going to get some supplies while I spoke with Uncle Qrow. I was nervous, to say the least. How would they react? Would they think of me as a monster? ...No, they aren't like that. They-

"We're back!" a loud voice cheers as they step in. Axel frowns at my rare but overly nervous expression while the others awkwardly put their bags away. "Um.." I clear my throat as I sit on my bed. I make room for Nico to sit beside me and watch as Axel offers Ward to sit on his. Ward and Nico so obviously wanted to have the top bunks that Axel and I couldn't help but let them.

"I.. uh, so I have two sisters and their names are Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long," I slowly state. Ward nods in understanding but Axel looks perplexed and Nico jumps off the bed to face Faye. The girl in question shrugs and tries to quell the nervous pitter of her heart.

"Then, the girl who you spoke to before checking out the explosion was your sister?" Axel asks curiously. I smile in response, unable to do much else at the thought of my sisters. "Yes. Listen, guys, it's really important that you don't tell them this. Or anyone else, for that matter."

"Why is that?" Nico asks in confusion, sliding back on the bed. "Come to think of it, she didn't seem to know you." Axel recalls with a thoughtful expression. "That's right, Axel. My sisters don't know who I am. I removed their memories of me when I left home," I open my hand to reveal their locked memories. "Why would you do that?" Nico asks, "They're your sisters."

I sigh with my eyes closed. "Because it was the only way to protect them from.. well, me." I close my palm, putting the sealed memories away as my eyes burn with the need to cry.

"The story I'm about to tell you is when I was 3 years old. It was my birthday and my mom and dad took me out while my older sister prepared the house. We weren't too far from our home when the Dragon Grimm of Darkness appeared. We knew we couldn't stand against it, but my parents were determined to keep me safe..." I pause, taking in their knowing expressions before continuing.

"Long story short, they protected me until they couldn't anymore, and the Grimm decided to make its home within me. 'I' attacked my mother shouting something about silver eyes, but thankfully was stopped by my father. My mother extracted half of it, but couldn't do so for the rest. So she sealed the other half of the Dragon Grimm inside of me. Those with silver eyes were saved as long as my mother was there beside me, making sure the seal would stay put. But..." I feel a tear slide down my face as I clutch the edge of my skirt tightly. I couldn't dare look up.

"A few years later, my mother went after the other half with the intent to kill it, hoping that by doing so, I would be free of it. But she failed and she.. she got ki-" I was stopped by a comforting hand on my shoulder. I looked at the azure boy with tears overflowing. No matter how many years pass by, I will never get over my mother's death. "You don't have to force yourself, we understand," he smiled so comfortingly, that I couldn't help but smile back. He's been so sweet these past few days and surprisingly I can tolerate him better. "But as a result of that, the seal weakened and I was a danger to my sister."

I look up at them expectantly. Will they accept me or.. despise me? They stare at me for a moment before realizing that I was waiting for an answer. Then they laughed. Fear rose inside me. Was I to become a laughing stock?

"Like we said earlier, princess. We'll accept you no matter what you are," Axel smirks, running a hand through his hair. My eyes widen in response. "Did you really think we'd throw you away for this? If you did something to betray us, then it would be something to actually think about. But having a Grimm sealed in you because of a bad encounter doesn't mean we won't accept you," Ward says calmly.

"You're our captain after all!" Nico grins, "As well as my best friend!" Tears brim my eyes yet again, but this time it's out of happiness. My heart swells with love and I throw myself at them, unable to express myself with words. "Group hug!" Nico cheers as we all hug and laugh when we fall.

After the laughter stops, I realize that everyone fell asleep right where they were. I chuckle and get everyone on their beds, tucking them in before making my way to my own. I look at my team as I am about to sleep with only one thought playing in my head.

I'll never meet a better team than them. And you'll never meet a happier team than us. That's for sure.
