The following months Kristen spends them in working.
She works hard to improve her technique. She works hard to have a well-balanced diet.
She can't stop working. If she does, she won't be what she wants to be. And right now she wants to be perfect.
Kristen desires to be the perfect daughter. The one who gets along with her parents, the one who never gets in trouble.
"Kristen, sweetie, if you don't want to, you don't have to eat all of that," Jules tells her one night, while they're having dinner.
Kristen looks at her. "No, mom, it's okay. I was hungry anyways," and smiles innocently.
Jules and John can't comprehend how their daughter has returned back to her old self, before all of her problems have begun. When they ask her, she replies with the same old:
"I don't want to see your hurting. You don't deserve any of that."
All they see when they look at Kristen is an angel. No trace of the previous Kristen, her problematic version. A real gift from God.
