That night, while Kristen is doing her night routine before bed, she can't help but stare at herself in the mirror - more than usual.
She can't take her eyes off her nose. To her, it looks too large for her face.
And her face - it's too mature! She doesn't look like a child anymore. Why can't she be like the other girls and look adorable? Why does she have to look so adult-like for her age?
She cups her face, her fingertips making their way from her cheekbones to her chin. Her large, sticking out chin. Just like her ears.
Ugly, ugly, ugly.
Of course no one approves of her. How can they like a girl with elephant ears, giant nose and huge chin?
Everybody wants a pretty girl. Soon, she'll be left in the shadows.
