All I Can See Is Your Love

AN: This prompt was a memory/in the moment poem. You had to choose a memory or story from your child hood and start it right in the middle of it happening. I wrote about holding my baby brother all those years ago... six years (almost seven T^T), but still!

All I can see

a stretch of glistening waves of innocence

within deep blue ocean eyes.

A set of tiny peach lips spread,

showing two rows of gums

as quiet coos escape through a toothless smile.

Everything about him is soft.

Soft, plump fingers

that wrap around my thumb.

Soft round face

that peers curiously into mine.

In the room that was once mine,

with walls vomited upon in princess pink,

I now hold him close to my chest,

enveloped in sky blue

fit for a little prince.

Ten years old

and so unsure of everything else in the world,

I know this small human;

sucking my fingers into his slobbery mouth,

is something special.

I know this delicate body, nestled into my warmth,

will require my protection.

And I know,

that in these few moments before all hell breaks loose

I love my new baby brother.

AN: Not my best work, but... eh, what you gonna do about it, huh?
