Hehe... Hey guys...
Look, I know I've been away for literally months but school is whooping my butt. I'm going to try and fit in as many one-shots as I can. So you can keep suggestions coming. If y'all can send them to me through a private message, that would be ideal. That way, I can easily find them. Also, during my time away, I've noticed that this collection has grown and I'm actually super excited and thankful! But I'll talk about that at the end of the one-shot.
Also, I left a link to a video by Lindsey Sterling that I'm obsessed with and I strongly suggest that you check it out. It kind of goes with this story but it's still a great song that I can't stop listening to.
So I've gotten many requests on my previous 11th Doctor one-shot to make a continuation. So here it is!! I hope you guys enjoy and leave more requests, thank you!
After a long day at work, (y/n) found herself sitting at her window that overlooked the street that the two of them reunited on many years ago. How that memory made her heart ache for another similar to that. Her small, bony fingers rubbed her eyes, trying to get the sleepiness out of it. As the days went on, she found herself more able to sleep and eat, and tonight was a night where she was able to fall asleep at will. Though once the clock struck 1:11, she wasn't sure if her mind was playing tricks on her, but she swore that she heard a familiar whooshing sound as her eyes drifted off of the street and down to her desk.
1 Year Earlier
"(Y/n), are you sure you can handle the entire cafe by yourself?"
The woman from behind the counter lifted her head to see the younger girl by the entrance. With a tender, tired smile, she shook her head. "It's okay Lily, you've worked overtime so many days this week, you can go home on time for once." The young girl laughed, causing heads to turn from the four customers in the quint establishment. Lily was the kind of beautiful soul that would light up a room with a smile, make church bells sound dull with a single laugh, and could single handily stop a war. The 18 year old grew close to (y/n) since the time she started working at the cafe and she had become (y/n)'s go-to girl for advice.
"Don't work yourself down to the bone now," the raven-haired teen teased. "No promises," (y/n) replied as her coworker walked out and down the street. With a sigh, she turned to the back counter and started organizing coffee beans, milk and syrups. Even with the Christmas season approaching, the little cafe would never get to busy for one person to handle. Mostly veterans and friends of her parents would come in every day with one or two businessmen/women looking for a quick cup of joe before headed on their way to work. No one special would come in. Nothing extravagant would happen. (Y/n) hated it.
Even though a month had gone by since her Doctor left her on the corner of Cherry and Elm, he would pass through her mind like a breeze on a spring day. Faint, but still bone chilling.
The truth was, she missed him. The small bed felt empty, mornings felt dull, walks to the store or the library were short and boring. Even when she went to Ireland for a weekend with an old friend, the sense of adventure she had before her intergalactic travels disappeared. Her life felt empty.
That was until a little bell chimed from the front of the room and heavy footsteps made their way to the counter. The silence that came from the four chatty patrons sitting in their booths gave a tense feeling in the air: this wasn't a regular customer. (Y/n) felt hope bubble in her chest. Could it be him? Could he come back so quickly?
She set down a measuring cup and turned to see a man with his hands in his pockets. His eyes were a shockingly bright blue that captured (y/n)'s attention immediately. His black hair was short, but well groomed and honestly attractive to the barista. He wore a grey, fitted shirt that was covered with a brown jacket and paired with black skinny jeans. He wasn't a very buff guy, but he was definitely in shape. His lips curved up into a smile that made (y/n)'s heart flutter slightly. Thoughts of a blue box dissolved into her past with every word the two exchanged.
