Hailee J.L-

Veronica hadn't talked much during the car ride back to the complex. I knew what was eating at her but she wouldn't share it with me. Ever since she got a call from the principles office, no doubt about the girl found in the woods but who were we to meddle with something this big?

My parents haven't called to check up on me, but that would be because they weren't informed. After word goes out that there was a murder in the same vicinity their child is living in heads will seriously start to roll.

Arriving at the parkinglot we just sat in silence both of us unwilling to move. I didn't want to simply just go to my home bored just thinking of ways to be near her, and I'm guessing she didn't either. "Jack, it might be best if we keep things as professionals." Veronica said as she stared out her windshield avoiding making any eye contact with me. She just sighed turning towards me with a heavy expression that if I could truly understand what ached within her it would be telling me this straight forward. Incase there was more to what she was asking. "The principle asked me to take care of you." She said as her fingers slid through her hair. "Take care of me? from who or what?" I asked rather annoyed that right now she was considering this ridiculous side.

"I don't need you to look after me, I can do that just fine on my own." I stated waiting for her to unlock her car doors so I could just bolt out of here. "First of all just admit to me that you regret agreeing to actually be with me." I said gazing directly at her icy blue eyes that in all honesty made my heart leap. Veronica perused her lips pondering on how to express herself. "No, its just that maybe we should consider the danger that's permeated especially if the heir is in danger." She said worried that maybe the risk was after me. I just halfheartedly smiled that she cared but she was going through this in a completely unnecessary manner.

"Thanks for worrying about me. But I don't wanna put this as an excuse to avoid...us." I said taking a glimpse at her to see if she at least understood what I wanted to say. Veronica held a sincere smile as she reached to hold my hand that remained clenched but once I was meet with the warmth of her skin I felt reassured that she wouldn't let us simply go.

"Thought you said we shouldn't make any physical contact." I said reminding her of her own words of the nights before. "No, I said you couldn't initiate them. I never said anything about myself." she corrected me. We both just sat there smiling enjoying this solace moment that would probably not last long. But as long as something like this occurred in the future to come I wouldn't mind receiving at least this much for now.

Breaking our silence were the sounds of other cars parking in the parking lot conjoint to the complex which could be the people who live within. Leaving it as that I couldn't help but notice a man that resembled Valéry's father holding a elder woman's arm. Veronica noticed what I've been staring at as she made contact she had a smile spread across her face recognition evident. "Don't worry that's my mother with her knew boyfriend." She said unlocking the doors of the car signaling me to get out.

Part of me felt nervous for two reasons the mother of my mate and the father of my arranged mate. I wasn't ready to confront either of them. Questions would be said and I didn't know how I could answer without the reassurance of Veronica.

Making our way towards Veronicas mother who spotted her daughter from across the parking lot as did Mr.Cruse who seemed as nervous as I was; perhaps meeting Veronica was important as it was for me to meet Veronicas mother.

Veronica turned to make sure I was still right behind her as she reached to hold my hand.

"As much as I want you to hold my hand, right now isn't the time." I said before she made any skin contact. Veronica simply smiled understanding that it was unsafe as well as having to explain to the two elder wolves, things that were still unclear to me.

Once we we're before them Veronica went for a warm hug her mother seemed to be expecting. "I'm glad I still get these big bear hugs." Said Veronicas mother with a warm tender voice.

Mr.Cruse smiled at the display before him yet slowly faded once he noticed me.

"Young Miss. What brings you out here with Miss.Mason." he asked using her former last name, he might not have known that she changed it.

He was simply curious as was Veronicas mother once she paid attention to my presence.

"Just staying in this complex." I said, sorta just not revealing everything that had happened with Veronica and I.
It felt as if my presence was unnecessary, this was somehow Veronicas family gathering even if she hardly knew the guy dating her mother. And to her mother I'm just that one student that lives here too.

"Mother this is Haile Lacross, one of my students." Veronica further informed, I simply smiled.

"Nice to meet you Mrs.Mason." I said extending my hand to shake my future mother-in-laws, just thinking of it gave me goosebumps, that her mother still looks good.

Mrs.Mason shook my hand as she smiled at me and her daughter. "Please sweetheart call me Heather." She insisted.

"So what brings you here?" Veronica asked as they walked towards the elevator. It felt weird hearing the conversation but I needed to use the elevator too.

"Well, I just wanted to see how you were doing after talking with you over the phone, I thought why not drop by?" She said.

"Unless you have company awaiting you?" Her mother asked winking, this only made Veronica a little boarded up. "No mom I don't, stop trying to push it." She said as she glanced at me for a split second.

"Stop emberrsing me in front of my student." She whispered low as possible. Heather giggled as she leaned on Mr.Cruse.

Mr.Cruse didn't utter a word aware that the mother had no idea who I truly was, if she knew I was  Jack Heir to all the Werewolves she wouldn't be talking so freely about her daughter.
He didn't know that I knew who she was, which only made things more easier for the arrangement to continue especially if Valerie hadn't found her mate.

"Have you two eaten ?" Heather asked. Catching me off my train of thoughts, I looked at Veronica seeing her smile assured me i could come. Yet I didn't want to since Mr.Cruse was also here which I sorta wished he weren't.
"Im-" I couldn't finish
"We're free for dinner." Veronica interjected answering for me, to which I actually didn't want to go.
"Yea, I guess the television can wait." I said.

We headed up to change from our school uniform and work clothes.

Dinner with my mother-in-law could be chaos, what if she doesn't like me ? What if I say something a stupid teen says, like umm... Your daughter is hot. She is tho, I know!

Clearing my face with my hands as if that would help get the thoughts out, which it didn't it simply caused me to just slapped my forehead.
"Get a grip Haile it's not like I'm asking for her hand." I said laughing at the thought. Someday I will. Shut up.

Walking out of my home I saw them waiting for me having small talk. Veronica came up to me concern shown in her eyes.

"Ready?" She asked

"Yea." I said "just thinking of those homework assignments."

Oh, Veronica mouthed defiantly not believing me. Somehow she knew I was nervous but reassured me with those cold ice blue eyes.

"Well don't be so worried its not due till awhile from now." She said tugging at my shoulders as we entered the elevator. Veronica was right the homework can wait, I had time.
