"ONE name, ONE game and most importantly ONE chance at life."
Olivia James seems to be making her way around her life just fine- apart from the occasional bullying and the burden of her past, nothing seems to be going off track until one day, her mo...
My mind swarmed with confusion. Obviously he doesn't believe me. Anger coursed through my veins and I gritted my teeth as I spat out,
"Sure. Follow me."
And then I realised maybe he was right, I wouldn't trust me if I was Tom.
I led him to my room where I looked for the note. I swear it was here somewhere...
I turned on the flashlight and looked into the corners of my bed and under it aswell. About ten minutes later I had looked into every single corner of my bedroom yet there was no sign of it.
As if it never existed.
I refused to meet Tom's eyes. My eyes held embarrassment and remorse for being angry at him. But most of all, I was scared.
What was real? What wasn't?
And why was I hallucinating?
"It was here, I swear I saw it!"
Tom sighed, but there wasn't a hint if frustration in his voice.
He gently laid his arm on my shoulder and I gazed at his face.
"You should get some sleep. Maybe you're just tired."
His voice was warm but still concerned.
And I nodded.
I gazed into his electric blue eyes which oddly reminded me of something before he saw something in the corner of the room.
His eyes kept zoning into the space beside my head and I too confused, looked at him. Slightly craning my neck I glanced at the space he was looking at.
"What?"
I voiced my confusion aloud but Tom only stepped aside and walked over to my bedside drawer which had been opened.
There lay a single black rose, with thorns on its stem. I gasped.
How did this get here?
Tom picked it up but did not take note of the thorns which covered the stem. It prickled into his skin and blood oozed out. He hissed in pain as I gasped once more.
"Wait, lemme get a band aid for you."
I quickly rushed into my bathroom and grabbed one. As I came back I noticed two things, one that the black rose was not there and two, a similar band aid covered his pinky finger on the other hand.
"Where's the rose?" I asked. My voice shaking.
"What rose are you talking about?", he wore a mask of confusion.
I was not hallucinating! I know it was real, I saw it with myowneyes!
"The black rose, the one which pricked your skin..."
I stopped. I wasn't making any sense. My words even confused me.
"How did you get that?" I pointed towards the band aid on his pinky finger. He shrugged nonchalantly as he glanced at his hand.
"I was trying to cook dinner and was cutting vegetables when I accidently scrapped the knife on my finger."
I nodded though I hesitated.
"I think you need to rest. Maybe work is taking a toll on you. Maybe take a leave for couple of days," he gently said, "I'll cover up for you. Don't worry."
I cracked a smile. "Thank you, you're literally the best."
As he turned away to leave, I couldn't help but think,
Do Itrust him more than I trust myself?
