What does it mean?

A friend in a another state sends me a message one evening with 2 Bible verses followed by 2 questions.
Surprisingly, it was addressed to a pastor. I was wondering whether he had mistakenly sent the questions to me, or he was just joking. Nonetheless, I sent him a reply after seeking the Lord.
The 2 Bible verses were Mark 6:4 and Matthew 13:57.

Mark 6:4 Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his own relatives and in his own home."

[20:30, 25/03/2017] CSL:
Matthew 13:57 And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home."

The 2 questions that followed were as below:
[20:31, 25/03/2017] CSL: Pastor, please explain what do these verses mean in our daily life?
[20:32, 25/03/2017] CSL: Do they suggest we may get better appreciation and respect outside our hometown?
My reply is stated as below:
[20:59, 25/03/2017] Marilyn: Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.” (NLT)
[21:00, 25/03/2017] Marilyn: Familiarity breeds contempt
[21:00, 25/03/2017] Marilyn: Extensive knowledge of or close association with someone or something leads to a loss of respect for them or it
[21:01, 25/03/2017] Marilyn: For your own personal circumstance, best to ask the Lord
Upon receiving my reply, he replied in return the following:
[21:09, 25/03/2017] CSL: Hahahahah
[21:09, 25/03/2017] CSL: Thanks
[21:10, 25/03/2017] CSL: You are really a Pastor in the making
[21:10, 25/03/2017] CSL: 👍And my reply was:
[21:16, 25/03/2017] Marilyn: Thanks be to God
