Gil couldn't get a good view of the table that Corbin and the Commander were looking at. She tried peeking around them. That didn't work. She getting on her tippy toes? That didn't work either. She tried clearing her throat standing behind them, but they were too deep in concentration. Finally, she simply pushed her way through to the command table.

Corbin and the Commander stood in stunned silence as Gill glanced over the documents of the table. "Ooooo, who's he? He's cute!"

"Excuse me Mrs. Gill, we are trying to make a decision here..."

Gill didn't flinch.

"I like him. Who is he?"

"He's an engineer, needing a rescue. But there are other things..."

"I like him! Can we keep him?"

"Keep him? We haven't decided what to..."

"Let's keep him."

"But..."

"I SAID I'm going to keep him." Gill smiled innocently.

"But..."

Gill's smile started to droop and remembering the issues they had last time Gill was unhappy, he just threw up his hands, "Whatever....I don't even know why you need me around..."

Gill just stared back, "To make the IMPORTANT decisions silly!" She pinched his cheek and skipped off down the walkway.

Corbin looked up the commander as he rubbed his cheek. Her voice dropped to a whisper, "Should we change the mission?"

The Commander just shook his head. "I was stuck in an alien tank for years, and I honestly think I'd rather go back than find out what really lives inside that thing..."

Corbin nodded and looked over her shoulder.

Mission Log: Earthly Daze

The next time I see the med-bay, it better dang well be because I'm unconscious, on a stretcher, or missing a limb. If I don't qualify for at LEAST one of those (preferably two) then I dang well better never see the inside of the med-bay again.

That doctor is so bent on making sure a patient is PERFECT before leaving that we are losing opportunities to jump ahead in this war. I was in med-bay for three weeks. THREE blasted weeks. Fortunately (for me), Gunner sat in there with me for a few weeks.

We had a contest. Who could irritate the doctor the most. We started small. Moving papers around, switching beds, changing labels on medication, that kind of thing. (Although I did feel a bit guilty wathcing poor Pugh suddenly walk around practically drunk when we switched the headache pills with laughing gas in a pill). The doctor was NOT amused. He split us up into different sides. That didn't work either. Gunner just got up and left. I didn't see her for nearly four hours until the doctor searched the entire med-bay and couldn't find her. Boy was he upset! When he got back, he was so irritated he hadn't noticed that I'd left for another couple hours. By the time he rounded both of us up again, he actually had to lock the med-bay exit doors, office doors, and all cabinet doors.

What he didn't realize is that I'm a medic.

And I have a key.

It's amazing what a good night's rest in your OWN bed can do for a person. Although I could do without the yelling and screaming wakeup call...
