CHAPTER SIX

I spent the rest of the week with Caleb and his family. The week flew by too quickly and with every passing day I began to realise just how much I didn't want it to end.

There was a part of me which thought that if the week ended then Caleb and I wouldn't have any reason to speak to each other. But I was wrong; I spent the rest of the holidays with him. Sure I didn't wake up to his gorgeous face every morning but I did get to spend time with him. We did a bunch of random things like riding our bikes down to the park, watching movies at his house or buying food and eating at the front of his house.

There was one thing I noticed after the first couple of weeks; we never went anywhere that his friends would be like for instance the mall. I didn't ask him about it though, I figure if he doesn't want me to embarrass him around his friends then that's okay. But the holidays were coming to an end. And so would our friendship. School starts again tomorrow and Caleb couldn't talk to me and still keep the friends he had now.

Apart of me felt really excited to see Sam again... but on the other hand there was Caleb. I didn't know if I could handle him ignoring me, the friendship we'd made felt utterly unforgettable to me.

I scribbled fiercely into my journal making the pages rip along with my frustration. All I ever seemed to talk about now in these pages was Caleb.

I guess that's what you do when you don't have your best friend to tell these things to; everything was in the journal. My feelings for him, the way we met and how I felt that we were so different. I jumped when the sound of something rattling on my window. I quickly sat up from my bed and squealed like a little girl when my phone starting buzzing.

"Hello?" I breathed.

Caleb's laugh instantly erupted from my phone. "Did I just hear you squeal?"

"Are you outside?" my voice full of disbelief, I hopped off the bed. "What do you want?"

"To see what your insides look like." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes and drew back the curtain. "That was a quote from the movie Scream by the way."

"I know." I nearly jumped backwards when I saw his figure in the tree just outside my bedroom. I unlatched the window and stood backwards and silently watched as he climbed from the tree to my window, grinning the whole way. "What's up Spiderman?"

He chuckled. "Not too-"

"Alley?" There was a loud knock on my door and my eyes widened. I pushed Caleb under my bed, his face shocked.

"Uh yeah?" I said about to open the door before she came in.

She nearly hit me in the face with it and I heard a muffle of laughter under the bed. I coughed to try and hide the noise. She gave me a strange look. "Alley I thought I heard a boys voice?"

"Uh, you must be hearing things." I smiled sheepishly as she opened my closet and peered inside.

"No I could have sworn.."

"Oh!" I said slapping my hand to my face. "Calebs on the phone!" I grabbed my phone from on my bed and talked into it. "Sorry Caleb, I gotta go! Yeah, sorry! Bye!" I pretended to hang up the phone and Mum frowned at me.

"I know what this is about." She sighed after giving me a long look.

"You do?" I said, my eyes following down to the floor.

"Yes, take a seat honey."

I frowned but sat in a chair in the corner of the room. Mum sat on my bed and sighed deeply, after a minute of awkward silence she said. "You were pretending to be Caleb weren't you?"

"What-"

"No honey it's perfectly normal but you don't need to try and imagine Caleb's answer, why don't you just ask him?"

"Ask him what?" I asked confused.

"What he feels about you honey, you don't need to hide this from me. You are perfectly strong and beautiful women you have nothing to worry about."

"Mum." I choked. "I wasn't- I mean I don't-" I looked down and met bright amused eyes. My cheeks heated.

She held up her hands. "Now baby it's okay now. I just want you to know that if you ever want to talk about, well if things are moving a little too fast-"

I coughed and choked on it. "Mum!" I breathed, losing my voice.

She nodded, "I just want you to know that you can come and talk to me whenever you want." I stood up and practically pushed her out of my room. Slamming the door in her shocked face I fell to the floor with my knees to my chest and hands on my face.

Her footsteps retreated and I heard the sound of Caleb getting out from under the bed. I took a peak at him and sighed heavily, of course he was grinning.

My eyes followed to his hand, a devilish smile on his face. "You're a D?" He said, holding out the bra towards me.

"Caleb!" I screeched. I was sure that my face was by down as red as a tomato. I covered my hand on my mouth and we both stayed quiet as we listened for any more intruders.

He chuckled quietly and held out his hand. I tightened his in mine and he lifted me off the floor. "Shh, you don't want your Mum to come up here and actually give you a sex talk do you?"

My lips pressed into a hard line. "Why are you here?"

"I have to tell you something."

I wasn't going to lie to myself, my heart raced inside my chest and I could hardly breathe. Thankfully, he didn't seem notice but instead he paced my room. I decided not to say anything but watched him cautiously.

"We've grown sort of close these last couple of months and I've realised my feelings."

My heart stopped in my chest and I stood there like an idiot, too frozen to even think or move.

"I thought I've had others but really? Your special A, and your by far the best of them all. You're my bestfriend."

It felt like someone had just punched me right in the gut. How could he not see my fake smile? It was painful to even say the next words out of my mouth. "Your my best friend too Caleb."
