I walk the last steps up to Chris' house. He opens the door before I even ring the bell, a big bright smile playing on his lips. He's holding a beer can in one hand.
He pulls me in for a quick, one-armed hug. "I didn't think you'd actually show up."
If it weren't for the fact that I want to annoy Iben, I might not have bothered. The way she looked at me with absolute disgust yesterday really changed my mind; if she thinks that has scared me off, she's wrong. I won't let her bully first years away from going to parties or making new friends.
I shrug. "I'm here."
Chris shows me inside. He's wearing a penetrator hoodie and blue jeans, and I immediately feel overdressed. I smooth out invisible creases on my fake leather skirt. Maybe I should have chosen something else.
"You look nice," he says.
"Thanks," I say, taking my phone out to feel less awkward and act busy. There's a message from the group chat with the girls.
"No squad with you today?"
Simply shaking my head, I glance down at my phone in my hand. "Not tonight."
I feel bad for lying. But then again, I don't want to have to look after Vilde again. I can't get involved in any more drama. I have enough to deal with on my own if Iben turns up.
There are voices coming from the living room, and I meet Chris's gaze. "I have some friends over, they're playing some drinking game."
"Oh, okay."
"I think it's beer pong. Do you want to play?" he asks, taking a swig of his beer.
"Can we be a team?"
He licks his lips, nodding in response. "I'm sure we'll be great together."
Will they be great together?
I have a William & Noora book as well, sort of like a side story to this one.
Go check it out if you're interested!
xoxo Lauren, who's walking around like a damn cliché
