Sitting in a classroom two young teens were talking quietly among themselves. The sun was peaking through the half drawn blinds, the class was anxiously shifting around. It was the last class before summer break, anticipation made it hard for the teacher to rule in some students.
"Mr.Witwicky your up," A man in his 40's announced, The young man was already sweating from nerves.
"Alright sir" He grabbed his bag containing his project.
"And Ms. Stone I would appreciate it if you would stop talking for at least 5 minutes" The man sighed, he would not feel peace teaching high schoolers.
" Don't worry Sam! You'll do great" The girl next to him spoke. She gave him a small smile of encouragement. She wasn't one for talking in front of people herself. The faster her brother gave his presentation, the sooner they could leave the stuffy hell hole that was high school.
"Thanks, Rose" Sam rushed out, He gathered his confidence before making the walk towards the front. Rose eyebrows rose at the confidence in his steps. Her brother wasn't the most athletic person, not that she had any room to talk. Her nose still hurts from running into a glass door. The teen was brought back to reailty when Sam tripped over a bag sitting in the isle. Rose bit her lip, biting back a laugh as she watched him stumble through the rows of desks. For a moment she was reminded that Sam was still in fact a clumsy mess.
Before he reached the presenting desk, a rubber band flew across the room hitting him. The teen reached up lightly touching the sore spot. Rose watched his shoulders sag for a brief moment before he sat his bag on the desk, The girl looked around the room trying to find who threw the small projectile. She spotted none other than Trent laughing at himself. The blonde was looking around the room smugly as the teacher stood up to ask who threw the band. Rose rolled her eyes when the man said to be responsible before he slumped back into his chair. Way and demonstrate proper responsibility there.
Narrowing her eyes Rose thought of a plan. Reaching down she took the hairband off her wrist. Taking a quick peek around the teen made sure everyone was distracted. Bringing the band up to her eyes, she pulled the band taut, making sure it had enough force to sail across the room.
Rose let out a small fist bump when the band smack Trent right as he opened his mouth. The smacking noise made satisfaction race through her veins. The asshole was surprised for a moment before he glanced around the room. Turning in his seat to get a better look towards the back of the room, his eyes scanned the room for the "attacker".
His gaze finally landed on Rose doing a small victory dance. Rose met his gaze with a falsely sweet smile. Just as he opened his mouth to report Rose flipped him the bird, Trent rolled his eyes at her childish display before turning back to his friends. Although he was an asshole, Rose was best friends with his girlfriend. So he wisely ignored her to save getting lectured.
Rose shrugged off the exchange, she only had to deal with him for another year. Although she was eighteen, she was held back in kindergarten. Kindergarten! Of all the grades to be held back in her parents decided that was the one to go with. She turned towards the window, Rose spotted Sam's dad waiting for the bell to ring. The sun shining off the green paint of his car. The nice weather made for a good excuse to have the top open. She thought about Sam's big surprise that his parents had planned for him. Laughing a little at the face her best friend is going to make when the surprise is revealed, made she loses her composure for a second.
Gathering her thoughts she tried to pay attention to Sam's speech. She really did, but he had forced her to stay up with him all night, while he came up with something on the fly. So Rose was feeling a little lackluster. However, she did pick up the fact he was trying to sell his grandfather's belongings.
